As an Experienced Staff Accountant, you will play an important role in delivering an accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. In this role, you will prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, analyze account activity, and support financial reporting and audits, while growing your technical accounting skills and taking ownership of your assigned areas. You will join our US General Ledger team, which owns accounting for our US, EMEA, and APAC entities, and collaborate with our India team to deliver a seamless global close.You will also contribute to BlackLine’s “Customer Zero” strategy by using our own product suite in your daily accounting workflows and sharing practical feedback with your team and Product. The ideal candidate combines a strong accounting foundation, sharp attention to detail, and a passion for modern, tech-enabled finance.\nYou'll Get To:\nGeneral Ledger Close & Analysis\nPrepare accurate and timely journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and recurring entries, in accordance with the established month-end close schedule.\nPerform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations for your assigned balance sheet accounts, investigate reconciling items, and ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.\nAssist with financial analysis, including researching account fluctuations and preparing variance explanations.\nSupport accounting for EMEA and APAC subsidiaries, including intercompany transactions and foreign currency (FX) activity, with guidance from senior team members.\nSupport the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, completing your tasks on time and flagging risks or delays early.\nCross-Functional Partnership\nWork with business partners and other departments to obtain information necessary for accurate accounting and financial reporting.\nWork closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other accounting-related functions to ensure transactions are properly coded and recorded in the general ledger.\nCoordinate with the India accounting team, which manages India entity accounting, on handoffs and shared close activities across time zones.\nCollaborate effectively with members of the accounting and finance teams and other departments throughout the organization.\nAudit, Controls & Governance\nAssist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to audit requests.\nFollow established accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and US GAAP requirements.\nMaintain organized and complete accounting documentation to support financial transactions and account balances.\nFinance Automation, AI Adoption & “Customer Zero”\nUse BlackLine’s product suite in your daily accounting workflows as part of the “Customer Zero” strategy, providing constructive feedback to your team and Product.\nLeverage AI tools and automation to help facilitate the close and other job duties, such as reconciliations, variance analysis, and documentation.\nAssist with accounting process improvements and help identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.\nUse accounting systems and Microsoft Excel to prepare reconciliations, analyze financial information, and support reporting activities.\nContinuous Learning, Cross-Training & Special Projects\nCross-train with teammates on each other’s accounts, processes, and tools to build coverage and shared knowledge across the team.\nStay current on accounting policies, procedures, and relevant accounting standards.\nParticipate in special projects and ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.\nWhat You'll Bring:\nEducation & Credentials\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.\nActive CPA license is not required.\nExperience\n1-3 years of accounting, general ledger, audit, or related finance experience, including in public accounting or corporate accounting.\nExperience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, or reviewing these as an auditor.\nSystems, Data & AI\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, including experience working with spreadsheets, formulas, and financial data.\nPractical enthusiasm for AI tools and automated financial workflows.\nTechnical Knowledge\nWorking knowledge of basic accounting principles and US GAAP.\nUnderstanding of month-end close processes and financial statements.\nCore Competencies\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work and follow assignments through to completion.\nAbility to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with established deadlines.\nAbility to work independently on assigned responsibilities while seeking guidance when appropriate.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nInterest in and pursuit of a CPA license.\nExperience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).\nExposure to multi-entity, intercompany, or foreign currency accounting.\nExperience leveraging AI tools to facilitate the close and other job duties.\nHands-on experience with BlackLine.\nThrive at BlackLine Because You Are Joining:\nA technology-based company with a sense of adventure and a vision for the future.
