These programs help the company prepare for disruptions and disasters.\nWithin Enterprise Resilience, a small technical group maintains the applications and services used by the team.\nWe are looking for a full stack Typescript developer to join this group. The role will be based in our Edinburgh office and managed remotely from San Francisco.\nYour role and impact\nYou will help develop, maintain and document our internal services, written in Typescript. You will strengthen existing code and implement new features, including but not limited to data feeds, scheduled jobs, and dashboards. You will design and implement REST APIs, write tests, help stakeholders, deploy releases, fix bugs, and more.\nOur team culture is collaborative and encourages team members to build relationships. You will partner with local non-technical colleagues, learning about their projects and sharing your own. You will learn about the domain you’re working in, developing a good understanding of business resilience. You should be comfortable organizing your daily workload, taking the initiative on problems, and communicating proactively.\nWe offer a choice of macOS or Windows. You will have access to advanced coding models such as Claude Opus, which you can use to enhance and validate your work.\nYour responsibilities\nIn every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:\nYou will help develop, maintain and document our internal services, written in Typescript. \nYou will strengthen existing code and implement new features, including but not limited to data feeds, scheduled jobs, and dashboards. \nYou will design and implement REST APIs, write tests, help stakeholders, deploy releases, fix bugs, and more. \nYou will typically work with a technology stack that includes Prisma ORM, Postgres, Fastify and React. You may work on varied projects depending on your skill set. Our current focus areas include process automation, reporting, disaster simulation and agentic AI. \nYou may also get involved with the development of our Salesforce instance, used as a company-wide resilience planning tool. (Prior Salesforce experience is not required.) \nYou will partner with local non-technical colleagues, learning about their projects and sharing your own. \nYou should be comfortable organizing your daily workload, taking the initiative on problems, and communicating proactively.\nYour experience\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.\nExcellent, up-to-date Typescript skills, with experience using Typescript to develop server-side or desktop applications.\nExceptional problem solving skills: able to evaluate evidence objectively, think critically, and propose rational solutions.\nSome experience developing REST API endpoints.\nSome web development experience with a good understanding of basic web technologies.\nSome experience using relational databases, either via raw SQL or an ORM.\nExperience using Git in a collaborative team environment.\nComfortable with command line tools.\nAbility to work effectively in cross functional teams.\nPreferred\nExperience developing agentic or prompt-chained AI applications. \nExperience with the React web development framework, or strong web development skills with the ability to pick up new frameworks quickly.
