Our global team works with cutting-edge technology to make a difference around the world and prides itself on being people-first, customer-focused and fun.\nWe are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to manage the financial activities at our Tukwila, WA facility, which designs and manufactures advanced small satellites. Reporting to the VP & Controller, you’ll be responsible for overseeing our cost and asset management. This position requires expertise in manufacturing processes, cost accounting, and financial analysis. This role is hybrid and is expected to be in BlackSky’s Tukwila, WA office a minimum of two days per week.\nResponsibilities:\nTrack production costs by monitoring materials, labor, and overhead for accurate job costing.\nConduct variance analysis to identify and understand deviations from standard costs and budgets.\nAnalyze cost structures and margins to help management control expenses and improve profitability.\nManage capital expenditure projects to ensure alignment with budgets and expected ROI.\nDaily engagement with Supply Chain and Production teams to capture job cost and monitor inventory and manufacturing activities.\nWorking together with Engineering on standard costing and potentially capital expenditure projects.\nSupporting site management in understanding and improving cost management practices and achieving cost optimization objectives.\nPrepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to the Corporate Controller and stakeholders.\nSupport the monthly close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.\nEnsure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.\nParticipate in internal and external audits (Cost, Inventory, etc.).\nAssist the finance manager in accurate cost allocation and variance assessment.\nSupport corporate financial planning and analysis on strategic business decisions, including scenario planning, financial budgets and forecasts.\nTracking inventory levels and identifying excess or obsolete stock.\nEnsuring Cycle Counts and Physical Inventories are performed according to internal controls.\nProviding insights into inventory usage.\nAnalyzing data to find trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.\nDeveloping and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.\nActively looking for and supporting opportunities to lower product costs.\nNavigating and utilizing the PLEX ERP system for data extraction and analysis.\nIdentifying and implementing system improvements to support financial processes and ensure robust integration with entity and corporate financial processes.\nLeading the transition towards digital solutions for reporting, analysis, and planning.\nOther job-related duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.\nMore than 5 years of progressive cost controlling and accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.\nExpertise in cost accounting and inventory management.\nStrong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional projects.\nExtensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to handle complex financial issues and provide strategic guidance.\nStrong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCPA or CMA certification.\nKnowledge of Deltek Costpoint and Plex.\nLife at BlackSky for full-time benefits eligible, US-based, employees includes:\nMedical, dental, vision, disability, group term life and AD&D, voluntary life and AD&D insurance\nBlackSky pays 100% of employee-only premiums for medical, dental and vision and contributes $100/month for out-of-pocket expenses!\n15 days of PTO, 11 Company holidays, four Floating Holidays (pro-rated based on hire date), one day of paid volunteerism leave per year, parental leave and more\n401(k) pre-tax and Roth deferral options with employer match\nFlexible Spending Accounts\nEmployee Stock Purchase Program\nEmployee Assistance and Travel Assistance Programs\nEmployer matching donations\nProfessional development\nThe anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $135,00-155,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education.
