We are looking for writers, interviewers, and reporters who are already embedded in the scenes they cover. That means people who know the culture from the inside, move fast when a story breaks, and can write with the authority that comes from actually being there.\nThis isn't just a desk job. You’re our eyes and ears to find the stories everyone else is missing and giving them the high-end, cinematic treatment they deserve. You will work with a global team to find Ghanaian stories that move beyond standard reporting and give them editorial treatment. This is a chance to help set a new standard for Ghanaian media from the ground up.\nResponsibilities\nPitch and produce features, interviews, cultural commentary, and news pieces across our editorial pillars.\n\nScout artists, designers, and musicians that are coming up before they hit the mainstream.\n\nGo deep on the subjects worth a deep dive: studio visits, gallery openings, industry events.\n\nDeliver social-ready story assets alongside your draft: carousel copy, pull quotes, visuals, and caption text aligned with BLACKSTAR Haus format.\n\nRepresent the publication at studio visits, gallery openings, and industry events.\n\nContribute to special projects and help decide what we cover next.\n\nRequirements\n2+ years of experience in editorial, digital storytelling, or cultural curation.\n\nA strong portfolio or digital archive that demonstrates your specific \"eye\" and writing style.\n\nYou are an active participant in your city's creative scene and know who is up and coming\n\nYou can move between long-form cultural analysis and fast news when the moment calls for it\n\nYou can handle a fast-paced editorial calendar and hit deadlines independently.\n\nA genuine understanding of the Ghanaian diaspora and its influence on global trends.\n\nCompensation & FundingBLACKSTAR Haus is committed to supporting the creative labor that fuels the culture. We operate on a flat-rate commission model for all published editorial content:\n\nStandard Editorial: $50 USD per published article or feature.\n\nSelection Process: Payment is guaranteed for commissioned pitches and assigned briefs only.\n\nProject Funding: For select, high-impact features (documentary photography, travel-based reporting, etc.), we provide additional production support and expense coverage on an approved case-by-case basis. Project funding is available on a case-by-case basis for select high-impact features such as documentary photography or travel-based reporting. This is not a standard offering and requires prior approval before any costs are incurred. Pitching a project does not guarantee funding.\n\nPayment Terms: All fees are processed upon publication of the story.\n\nDiversity & InclusionBLACKSTAR Haus is committed to a fair and inclusive hiring process and encourage applications from all backgrounds, regardless of location or previous industry access. We value the unique viewpoints that come from different lived experiences and prioritize creating a workspace where those voices are heard.\nOriginally posted on Himalayas","description_format":"text","description_chars":3121,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Publishing","Digital Media"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-26T19:52:56Z"},{"event":"close","at":"2026-10-29T14:15:45Z"},{"event":"reopen","at":"2026-10-29T16:15:00Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":48,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":0.85,"p_active":0.747,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":21,"expected_fill_days":27,"reasons":["seen:21","win:late","comp:remote"],"computed_at":"2026-10-30T05:48:23Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/blackstar-haus-writer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/blackstar-haus-writer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-31T00:03:17Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":40,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-01T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3910280},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3910280"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fblackstar-haus-writer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fblackstar-haus-writer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fblackstar-haus-writer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/blackstar-haus-writer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fblackstar-haus-writer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3291783}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"blackstarhaus.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3291783},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
