Come be part of our BBQ!\nRole Overview\nSummary:\nThis position is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design, development, and integration of Mechanical and Electro-mechanical systems into our Outdoor Cooking products. In this role, you will work with a global cross-functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will gather product requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.\nThis is a hybrid role requiring in-office days at our Palatine, IL campus.\nResponsibilities:\nLead fast paced, complex NPD projects from concept to completion\nDevelop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), P-Diagrams, and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)\nCreate and refine design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks) for sub-systems\nCreate and maintain Master Assembly (MASM)\nEnsure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements\nWork collaboratively with globally distributed teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Product, Sales, Sourcing and Suppliers\nCreate complex 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of material\nSupport prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands-on testing and iterative learning\nDesigns and runs test plans related to project work\nPerform basic IP searches\nPlanning builds and minor projects\nSupports non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives\nKnowledge of product lineup and competitive steps\nDevelop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership\nQualifications:\nEducation:\nMinimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent\nWork Experience:\nMinimum: 5+ years’ experience in a relevant field\nDesigning solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements\nSolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modeling\nLeadership:\nAbility to direct others\nCoaching\nUnderstanding of the team roles and responsibilities\nSkills:\nIndependent self-starter who can manage and prioritize work based on departmental goals and objectives\nEffective communication (written, spoken, meeting facilitation)\nAbility to work cross-functionally\nTeam Player\nResults Oriented\nTolerance Analysis\nGD&T\nSix Sigma or Sigma Science\nSolidWorks: sheet metal, surfacing, drawings, MASM, simulation\nDFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Reliability\nDesign for Regulatory and approval procedures\nSheel metal, injection molding and die casting development experience (preferred)\nLiquid propane and natural gas fueled products (preferred)\nCharcoal and pellet fueled products (preferred)\nBenefits:\nMedical, dental, and vision coverage \nLife and disability insurance \nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) \n401(k) with company match \nEligible for paid time off (vacation, sick, personal, holiday) \nSalary Range: $100,000 -
