This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring engineering teams, and driving architectural decisions without stepping away from coding, supporting the modernization of existing monolithic applications into distributed microservices while collaborating closely with product managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.\nWhat You’ll be Doing:\nDesign and evolve scalable software architectures for enterprise applications\nLead the modernization of legacy monolithic systems into cloud-native microservices using patterns such as Strangler Fig, Change Data Capture (CDC), and event-driven architectures\nDevelop production-ready software using Java (Spring Boot), Laravel (PHP), and React\nDesign RESTful APIs and asynchronous integrations using Kafka and Amazon SQS\nDefine service boundaries, data ownership, and communication strategies across distributed systems\nArchitect and implement cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency\nParticipate actively in coding, design reviews, and technical implementation\nPerform code reviews and promote engineering best practices across development teams\nTroubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive long-term improvements\nCollaborate with DevOps teams on deployment strategies, monitoring, and operational excellence\nMentor engineers and provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle\nDrive continuous improvements in architecture, development processes, and system observability\nWhat You’ll Need to Be Successful:\n8+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise software solutions\nStrong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot\nProfessional experience developing applications with Laravel (PHP) and React\nDeep understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices\nExtensive experience designing distributed systems and cloud-native applications\nStrong understanding of architectural patterns, including Microservices, Modular Monoliths, Strangler Fig, CDC, Event-Driven Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and RESTful APIs\nExperience implementing asynchronous communication using Kafka and/or Amazon SQS\nStrong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB\nExperience with Debezium or other CDC technologies\nSolid understanding of software design patterns (GoF) and architectural best practices\nExperience with AWS services, including ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, VPC, IAM, and Systems Manager Parameter Store\nExperience troubleshooting complex production environments\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience modernizing large-scale monolithic applications\nExperience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)\nKnowledge of observability tools such as New Relic, CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus\nExperience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation)\nFamiliarity with Redis or distributed caching solutions\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum environments\nBlanc Labs is enabling a digital future.
