Learn more about us at www.blg.com.\nThe Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), Canada’s leading, innovative and client-focused law firm, is seeking an:\nAssociate - Disputes\nWe are looking for\nThe ideal candidate will have 1 - 4 years experience and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Candidates with experience in commercial disputes, including but not limited to contractual disputes, commercial arbitration, banking litigation, shareholder disputes, proceedings for injunctive relief, competition litigation, and real estate disputes, are encouraged to apply.\nCandidates should have strong advocacy, legal research and drafting skills along with excellent judgment, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.\nThe successful candidate can expect to develop well-rounded advocacy skills in commercial disputes, including:\nAssisting with complex trials and arbitrations.\nArguing motions and applications, and attending other court hearings such as pre-trial and case conferences.\nConducting examinations for discovery and witness preparation.\nDrafting pleadings, motions, facta, affidavits and other court materials.\nConducting legal research and prepare legal opinions.\nAdvising clients on disputes risk, strategy and dispute resolution options.\nBLG offers top tier training and professional development with respect to challenging and sophisticated disputes matters, as well as a collaborative and supportive team environment.\nThe expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $200,000, depending on level of experience, region/location, and other factors.BLG is committed to building a diverse workplace reflective of the communities we serve and to fostering an inclusive culture where Firm members feel valued, respected and inspired to thrive as their authentic selves.
