No two days are the same.\nJoin our Technology Delivery team as a Programme Manager and lead a strategically significant programme from mobilisation through to successful delivery and benefits realisation.\nYou will bring together leaders and teams from across BNZ to deliver complex change that supports our ambition to be New Zealand’s best bank.\nMō te Tūranga | About the Role\nAs Programme Manager, you will provide the leadership, structure and momentum needed to turn strategic intent into coordinated delivery.\nYou will be accountable for establishing and leading an integrated programme of work, aligning product, technology and business teams around clear outcomes, delivery commitments and investment priorities.\nYour key responsibilities will include:\nLeading the programme from mobilisation through delivery, transition and benefits realisation. \nEstablishing a clear programme roadmap, delivery approach and integrated view of outcomes, milestones, dependencies and investment. \nMaintaining focus on business and customer outcomes, using delivery evidence to support timely decisions and course corrections. \nManaging programme risks, issues and cross-team dependencies, including the organisational change required to successfully embed new capabilities. \nProviding clear, decision-focused reporting to Steering Committees, Design Authorities and enterprise governance forums. \nWorking with the relevant leadership teams, Product leaders, Finance and Portfolio Planning to develop investment cases and secure funding. \nLeading and developing a team that may include Senior Delivery Leads, Delivery Leads and Business Analysts. \nCreating an environment of clarity, collaboration and accountability, supported by regular feedback, coaching and recognition. \nManaging delivery partners, vendors, programme finances and expenditure within agreed investment parameters. \nWhat makes this opportunity exciting?\nBNZ has an ambition to be New Zealand’s best bank and to be recognised globally for the experiences and outcomes we create for our customers.\nThis role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful, complex technology change and to influence how BNZ plans, governs and delivers its strategic investment portfolio.\nYou will have the scope to improve delivery practices, strengthen collaboration across the bank and make a material contribution to BNZ’s strategic ambition.\nWhat will be challenging?\nDelivering change at scale in a bank requires navigating complexity, regulation, competing priorities and dependencies across distributed teams and external partners.\nSuccess will require sound judgement, disciplined execution and the ability to create alignment and momentum when the path is not straightforward.\nWhat will success look like?\nYou will successfully land complex technology change in a way that is sustainable, cost-effective and aligned to the outcomes BNZ is seeking.\nYou will bring together Product and People Managers, Product Owners, Heads of Technology, Portfolio Planning, Finance, Assurance, Architecture, Design and external partners around a shared roadmap and clear delivery commitments.\nStakeholders will have confidence in the programme because they can see what is being delivered, the outcomes being achieved, the decisions required and where intervention is needed.\nWhat experience will you bring?\nYou will be a seasoned delivery leader with extensive experience leading complex technology change, including at least five years in programme or portfolio management and prior project management experience, at least ten years.\nYou will bring:\nDemonstrated experience leading large, complex and strategically important technology programmes. \nStrong stakeholder leadership and influencing skills at senior and executive levels. \nExperience coordinating delivery across multiple technology domains, business areas and external partners. \nExperience leading multidisciplinary delivery teams and creating clarity across complex accountabilities. \nStrong investment, financial, commercial and vendor-management capability. \nExperience managing risk, dependencies and organisational change in agile or fast-paced environments. \nThe ability to adapt plans and delivery approaches as priorities, evidence and operating conditions change. \nA pragmatic approach to resolving complex problems and removing barriers for product-aligned delivery teams. \nWhat attributes will help you succeed?\nYou are known for bringing clarity, structure and momentum to complex initiatives.\nYou build trust, encourage constructive challenge and create accountability without adding unnecessary process.
