Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

This is a great opportunity to build your Treasury career in a team that plays a central role in how BNZ manages funding, capital, liquidity, interest rate risk, and transfer pricing across the bank.

As Treasury Associate, you’ll provide business analysis, legal and application support for BNZ’s securitisation systems, while also contributing to key secured funding activities, reporting, documentation, and operational processes.

What will you be doing day to day?

  • Play a key role in supporting day-to-day Treasury activities across operations, reporting, governance, and secured funding processes.

  • Keep important Treasury information accurate and easy to access by maintaining procedures, templates, trackers, records, and documentation.

  • Coordinate key inputs, deadlines, actions, and follow-ups so recurring activities and governance requirements run smoothly.

  • Prepare clear reports, meeting materials, presentations, and governance packs for internal stakeholders.

  • Work with financial information by collecting, validating, reconciling, and updating data across standard reports and spreadsheets.

  • Support securitised funding activity, including RMBS and Covered Bond pools, quarterly rollovers, issuances, maturities, and documentation.

  • Contribute to well-controlled Treasury processes by supporting invoice payments, secured funding documentation, and business and operational risk requirements.

Skills and experience you bring:

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data, detail, and people. You’ll bring a proactive mindset, curiosity, and confidence working with complex information, alongside the ability to communicate clearly and build strong stakeholder relationships. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Knowledge or experience across Treasury operations, Markets, finance, legal, business, or information systems would be beneficial.

  • Previous experience in a finance, financial analysis, accounting, banking, or similar analytical role, with confidence working with financial information and reporting.

  • Banking or financial services experience would be ideal, particularly where you have worked with financial products, reporting, operations, or regulatory processes.

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially when working with financial information, reporting, or documentation.

  • A proactive approach to identifying issues, improving processes, and following through on actions.

  • Confidence working independently on analysis, investigation, processing, and problem solving.

  • A relevant qualification in finance, business, legal, information systems, or a similar discipline would be advantageous.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

You’ll gain valuable exposure across BNZ, working with stakeholders in Finance and the wider bank while developing insight into important products, processes, and priorities. It’s a role where you can grow your Treasury knowledge, build trusted relationships, and contribute to work that supports the strength and stability of the bank.

What is the team culture and environment like?

One of the highlights of working at BNZ is our culture. Within Treasury and the wider Finance team, you’ll be part of a supportive, knowledgeable, and collaborative environment where people are generous with their time and committed to helping each other succeed. You’ll be encouraged to bring new thinking, contribute meaningfully, and feel part of a friendly team that wants you to do well.
