These platforms underpin the global services powering Flutter's well-known betting brands, enabling faster delivery, improved reliability, and an enhanced developer experience across the group.\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to shape the technology direction for Flutter's data streaming platform. You’ll collaborate with brands across the group to modernise and migrate their services, helping to deliver cutting-edge platform capabilities that meet diverse business needs. You’ll also contribute to the evaluation and selection of data streaming technologies, platform tooling (IaC, CI/CD, observability), and supporting components aligned with our strategic objectives.\nWe’re looking for an engineer who can translate complex requirements into reliable, scalable platform features. You’ll drive platform adoption by promoting best practices, reducing delivery risk, and ensuring tangible business value. You’ll be part of a dynamic, cross-functional, global team, working closely with our internal engineering and partner teams.\nThe ideal candidate will have proven experience in enterprise environments, ideally within platform engineering teams. You bring a customer-obsessed and collaborative mindset, supported by a strong technical grasp of data streaming technologies, automation, and platform engineering. You can clearly articulate complex technical solutions, connect platform capabilities to business value, and demonstrate a strong passion for modern technologies and developer enablement.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nDesign, build, and operate core components of our secure, performant, and cost-effective data steaming platforms.\nDevelop and maintain platform capabilities and interfaces to enhance developer experience and self-service.\nDrive automation across the platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC - e.g., Helm, Crossplane, Terraform) and configuration management tooling.\nImplement and manage robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., ArgoCD, GitHub Actions) promoting GitOps practices for managing the platform.\nManage and enhance our data streaming platforms\nMaintain source code and artifact repositories.\nWrite and review platform code, offering constructive feedback to ensure code quality.\nEnable and support engineering teams with the adoption of data streaming services.\nWrite and maintain appropriate technical documentation.\nDefine, document, support, and approve Low-Level-Designs (LLDs) for Flutter data-streaming services.\nSupport architecture and function-leads with an evolving technology roadmap and strategy.\nAct as a trusted SME offering advice and knowledge sharing to the broader technology team and internal customers.\nCreate and drive adoption of standard operating procedures, policies, and runbooks.\nLiaise with other group functions, building and maintaining relationships, and recognising opportunities for strategic collaboration.\nLiaise with Third Party vendors and partners.\nPractice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.\nOn-call is likely to be introduced in the future.\nWhat You'll Bring\nProven experience building and operating data streaming platforms, with focus on our core technologies: Apache Kafka, Cassandra & Apache Pulsar.\nProven experience building and operating data streaming platforms on AWS, with focus on Kafka, Keyspaces, EMR, Athena, Glue, Quicksight, S3\nAn understanding of and hands-on experience with Kubernetes (concepts, architecture, operations).\nProficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Helm, Crossplane, Terraform).\nExperience implementing and managing GitOps workflows and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD).\nSolid understanding and practical experience with CI/CD principles and tooling (e.g., Argo Workflows, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).\nExperience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, ELK, Datadog, CloudWatch).\nStrong scripting/programming skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) for automation and platform development.\nProficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (GitHub).\nSolid experience working with Linux operating systems.\nGood understanding of platform security principles and experience delivering systems in security-compliant environments.\nExperience managing deployment assets such as container images and Helm charts.\nExperience with incident, change, problem, and risk management processes.\nCollaborative: Proven ability to work effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders in cross-functional, global teams.
