That uniqueness shapes the culture of belonging we are so proud of.\nThe role\nOur Developers know their stuff - they're busy working independently and setting high standards.\nAs a Backend Engineer, you are part of an agile Software Development Team, responsible for the full lifecycle of an application using cutting-edge technologies to deliver amazing value to our customers, while scaling our platform to meet the demands of worldwide markets.\nFrom developing flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to supporting the Product Owner with requirements and the team with solutions, developing unit, component, and integrated tests with the guidance of the team's QA - you can expect to execute the full software development lifecycle.\nProgramming well-designed, testable, efficient code to solve business needs and deploy applications in a Continuous Integration platform, as well as testing and documenting the implemented solutions will be a big part of your day-to-day.\nWhat You'll Bring\nOur product's backend runs in Java , so a proven track record of at least 3 years working with this technology (preferably Java 8+) would be ideal - but... If you have extensive experience working with similar OOP languages, that is not a problem as the underlying concepts are similar - just know that if you join us you'll be working with Java. \nOur teams also work with technologies such as Scala, Kafka, Akka, Memcached, Apache Storm, Apache Cassandra, Zookeeper, RabbitMQ , and some others... Ideally, you should have working experience with most/all of these but if not, don't worry - we will have your back! \nWe'd Like You To Master In\nExperience working with a high concurrency/high transactional/highly available platform; \nFamiliarity working with Client-server protocols such as SOAP, and REST; \nExpertise using established design patterns and encouraging appropriate use of reusability techniques (e.g. library extraction, new component creation); \nNice To Have\nAutomation of CI/CD pipelines, builds, deployments, or release workflows;\nInternal platform or developer-tooling experience;\nSpring Boot, Maven, and event-driven systems (Kafka); \nScripting or tooling to replace manual operational work - runbooks, provisioning, integrations, scheduled jobs; \nExperience with pipeline platforms (e.g. Buildkite, GitHub Actions, Jenkins); \nObservability and production debugging - logs, metrics, tracing (e.g. Datadog);\nComfortable owning services end-to-end: build → deploy → monitor → iterate; \nStrong collaboration with cross-functional teams. \nAs a Backend Developer at Blip, it's not just about the technical knowledge.
