Backed by leading investors and led by proven founders, we're assembling a high-performance team to reinvent propulsion and power from the ground up. This is a rare chance to create genuinely new technology and to watch it go from a sketch on your screen to hardware coming off the line and into service. We design it, analyze it, build it, and test it, often in the same week.\nAbout the Role\nAs our turbomachinery design engineer, you turn concepts into manufacturable, flight-worthy hardware. You own the detailed design of rotating and static components - impellers, blisks, shafts, housings, and combustors - and you carry enough of your own structural analysis to know your parts will survive before they are ever cut.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the detailed design of rotating parts (impellers, blisks, shafts, rotor stacks) and static structure (housings, casings, hot-section) from concept to release.\n\nProduce manufacturing-ready drawing packages: GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerance stack-ups, and specifications the shop and suppliers can build from.\n\nRun your own structural FEA - static, thermal-structural, modal, and fatigue / life - to size and de-risk parts before they are ever cut.\n\nDesign for manufacturability across precision machining, casting, and additive, working directly with the shop and suppliers.\n\nSee parts through build and test, folding what the test stand teaches back into the next revision.\n\nMove fluidly across the design, build, and test loop as the program needs.\n\nQualifications\nB.S. or M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or a related discipline, with roughly 5-7+ years of serious component-design experience for aerospace or similarly demanding applications.\n\nExpert with SolidWorks (or comparable) for complex parts, assemblies, and drawing packages, with rigorous GD&T per ASME Y14.5.\n\nAble to run your own structural FEA in ANSYS (or comparable): static, thermal-structural, modal, and fatigue / life.\n\nStrong mechanics-of-materials fundamentals - stress, fatigue, tolerancing, and material selection.\n\nA real design-for-manufacturability instinct across machining, casting, and/or additive.\n\nGenuinely hands-on - comfortable on the shop floor and at the test stand.\n\nClear technical communication, and the instinct to back claims with data rather than assertion.\n\nFluent with modern AI tools and able to use them to move faster - while staying appropriately skeptical: you verify what they produce, understand where they break down, and never let them substitute for your own engineering judgment.\n\nBonus points for any of:\nRotating-machinery / turbomachinery component design - impellers, blisks, disks, shafts, rotor stacks.\n\nHigh-speed, high-temperature, or high-cycle-fatigue applications.\n\nRotordynamics, structural dynamics, vibration, or lifing analysis.\n\nHigh-temperature materials and processes - nickel superalloys, casting, brazing, additive, coatings.\n\nExperience releasing hardware to production and working with a supply chain.\n\nScripting and automation (e.g., Python) for analysis or design.\n\nEstimated Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000 plus equity\nCompensation & Benefits\nCompensation for this role is based on a range of factors including experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations. Actual offers may vary. Where a salary range is displayed, it reflects an estimate only. Highly competitive equity grants are included in most full-time offers.\nWe offer comprehensive benefits for full-time employees, including:\nPremium Healthcare Coverage: 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your eligible dependents\n\nComplete Protection: Full company-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage\n\nFlexible Time Off: Open PTO policy plus 13 paid company holidays\n\nPre-Tax Benefits: Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and commuter benefits\n\nRetirement Planning: 401(k) plan with company matching\n\nThe recruiter assigned to this role can share more information about the specific compensation and benefit details associated with this role during the hiring process.\nYou'll thrive here if you:\nOwn problems the moment you see them and drive them to resolution regardless of whose area they touch\n\nLead by example at every level, and check your ego at the door. The best idea wins, full stop\n\nCan prioritize ruthlessly when the list is longer than the day\n\nBelieve that discipline and rigor are what create the freedom to move fast - not obstacles to it\n\nJoining a company this early is not for everyone. And the people who do their best work here tend to know exactly why they want it.\nWhat makes it exceptional: you won't be maintaining someone else's legacy. You'll help define the architecture from first principles, follow your work all the way to fielded hardware. You will operate with almost no layers between an idea and a decision. Real breadth, real ownership, real stakes.\nWhat's genuinely hard: ambiguity is the default, the intensity is real, and it carries startup risk. You'll often build the process before you can build the thing. Priorities shift as we learn. If that tradeoff sounds like exactly what you've been looking for, we want to hear from you.\nEqual Opportunity Employment\nWe are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We foster a culture of ownership, initiative, inclusion, and mutual respect. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, uniform service, veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic per federal, state, or local law, including those with a criminal history, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws. We actively encourage members of recognized minorities, women, veterans, and those with disabilities to apply. If you're passionate about revolutionizing aerospace propulsion, we'd love to hear from you.\nSecurity & Export Control\nThis position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Please note that any offer for employment may be conditioned on authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export control laws and regulations without sponsorship for an export license.\nWe will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6798,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Flexible time off","Life insurance","Retirement plans","Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Aerospace Manufacturing","Defense Manufacturing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-09T17:20:38Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":10,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.373,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":97,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:2","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-26T05:57:25Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":220000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/blisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/blisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-26T13:58:50Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":19303,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-27T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3873412},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3873412"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fblisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fblisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fblisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/blisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fblisk-dynamics-senior-turbomachinery-engineer"}]}
