This role, reporting to the Americas Head of Compliance, will support the day-to-day operation of our AML, CTF, sanctions and financial crime framework, with particular responsibility for transaction monitoring, blockchain investigations.\nRole:\nThe role will be responsible for defining and implementing the firm's on-chain monitoring and travel rule framework and strategy. \nThis is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced fintech environment, with exposure to complex financial crime investigations, regulatory requirements and compliance technology. They will be comfortable working directly with Product and Engineering to design, automate and continuously improve the compliance function - including using AI-enabled tools to increase the speed and quality of investigations.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO:\nUse Chainalysis to investigate wallet addresses, transaction histories, transaction flows and exposure to high-risk entities or services.\nDefine controls covering, Wallet screening, Sanctions exposure, Mixer/Tumbler activity, High-risk jurisdictions, Layering and obfuscation patterns, Rapid movement of digital assets, Wallet hopping and network relationships, Establish integration between crypto monitoring and traditional fiat AML controls.\nReview direct and indirect exposure and assess the relevance of identified risk indicators.\nInvestigate Chainalysis alerts and determine appropriate next steps based on the customer's profile and transaction activity.\nSupport the development and refinement of transaction monitoring rules, thresholds and blockchain-related risk indicators.\nIdentify emerging crypto financial crime typologies and support the development of appropriate monitoring controls.\nEnsure that the company’s travel rule program complies with anti-money laundering regulations by monitoring, collecting, and securely transmitting required sender and receiver data.\nProvide guidance and informal training to other members of the Compliance team on Chainalysis, travel rule, and blockchain investigations.\nContribute to the development of internal guidance and best practice for blockchain investigations.\nWork directly with Engineering and Product to design and build automated workflows around transaction monitoring, alert triage and case management.\nTranslate compliance and investigative requirements into clear technical specifications that developers can build against.\nIdentify opportunities to automate manual, repetitive elements of blockchain investigations (e.g. wallet clustering, exposure scoring, evidence gathering) and help scope the solution with engineering.\nUse AI/LLM-based tools to accelerate investigation write-ups, alert summarisation and typology research, while applying appropriate human judgement and quality control.\nContribute to the architecture of the compliance technology stack, including how Chainalysis integrates with internal case management, monitoring and reporting systems.\nStay current on emerging AI and automation capabilities in blockchain analytics and financial crime detection and assess their practical application to the business.\nWHAT YOU WILL NEED:\n3+ years' experience in Compliance, AML, Financial Crime, KYC, Transaction Monitoring or a related role.\nHands-on experience with Chainalysis, ideally including Chainalysis KYT and blockchain transaction investigations.\nHands-on experience with Notabene (preferred)\nExperience conducting KYC/CDD, EDD and transaction monitoring reviews.\nExperience investigating financial crime alerts and documenting evidence-based conclusions.\nGood understanding of cryptocurrency transactions, blockchain technology and crypto financial crime typologies.\nStrong analytical skills and attention to detail.\nGood judgement and the ability to make proportionate, risk-based decisions.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nHighly organised with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities.\nComfortable working directly with developers/engineers to scope, build and test compliance tools and workflows.\nExperience or strong interest in using AI/LLM tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to improve efficiency and quality of compliance work.\nAbility to think in terms of process design and system architecture, not just policy and case-by-case decisions.\nICA, ACAMS, CAMS or other relevant compliance qualification.\nCOMPENSATION & PERKS\nCompetitive full-time salary based on experience and meaningful equity in an industry-leading company\nThis is a role based in our Palermo office, with a mandatory in-office presence four days per week.\nThe opportunity to be a key player and build your career at a rapidly expanding, global technology company in an exciting, emerging industry.\nPerformance-based bonuses\nApple equipment provided by the company\nWork from Anywhere Policy: You can work remotely from anywhere in the world for up to 20 days per year.\nHealth insurance reimbursement\nBlockchain is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
