This role will report to the VP, Global Facilities and will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, 5 days in office role.\nRole and Responsibilities:\nDrive operation, maintenance, and optimization of facility mechanical systems serving cleanroom and manufacturing environments.\nLead and support the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical systems for U.S. Greenfield/Brownfield projects, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality project execution.\nDevelop and review engineering designs, specifications, standards, and procedures for mechanical systems including HVAC, exhaust and abatement systems, vacuum systems, process chilled water, natural gas, and central utility systems.\nCollaborate with global, regional, and site partners across Facilities, Manufacturing, Construction, Procurement, IT, Operations, EHS and external partners to achieve project objectives. \nProvide technical guidance of design reviews, construction activities, change management processes, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.\nSupport capacity planning, infrastructure assessments, and scenario modeling to ensure facilities systems meet current and future manufacturing requirements.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives by finding opportunities to enhance system performance, reliability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.\nServe as a mechanical systems authority, providing technical guidance, problem-solving support, benchmarking, and lessons learned across Bloom’s global network.\nSupport facility commissioning, qualification, and startup activities for new equipment, utilities, and building infrastructure.\nMonitor facility performance metrics, utility consumption, and system efficiency to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost reduction.\nEnsure compliance with applicable building codes, environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies.\nContribute to global facilities programs, sustainability initiatives, and the development of standards, specifications, and Best Known Methods (BKMs) to promote consistency and operational excellence.\nTravel up to 25% as needed to support facilities projects, supplier meetings, and other company locations.\nSkills and Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\n10-12+ years of experience supporting facilities engineering, mechanical systems, utilities, or industrial infrastructure within manufacturing, semiconductor, energy, pharmaceutical, or technology environments.\nStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, boilers, pumps, piping systems, compressed air, plumbing, process utilities, and building mechanical infrastructure.\nExperience designing, operating, and maintaining critical facility and utility systems in a manufacturing environment.\nProven experience managing capital projects, contractor activities, equipment installations, and commissioning efforts.\nStrong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, reliability engineering, preventive maintenance methodologies, and root cause analysis techniques.\nExperience reviewing mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and engineering calculations.\nFamiliarity with CMMS systems, building management systems (BMS), and facility monitoring platforms.\nKnowledge of OSHA requirements, safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.\nExperience supporting sustainability, energy efficiency, and utility optimization initiatives.\nStrong project management, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or other relevant certifications are preferred.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to walk manufacturing, laboratory, and utility areas for extended periods.\nAbility to climb ladders, access rooftops, mezzanines, and mechanical equipment areas as required.\nAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, and work around industrial equipment and facility infrastructure.\nAbility to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.\nAbility to respond to facility emergencies and support after-hours maintenance or outage activities when required.\nBloom Energy is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit.
