We believe that, together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future while tackling the most pressing challenges of the 21st century.\nWe are looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Edge Compute to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report toSr Director Software Engineering and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.\nRole and Responsibilities:\nDesign, implement, and optimize system-level and backend services in Rust or Go.\nDebug complex issues across services, integrations, and network layers.\nBuild and maintain components that interact with TCP/UDP protocols, streaming data sources, and real-time systems.\nCollaborate cross-functionally to integrate with internal and external APIs and services.\nContribute to strong engineering practices including code reviews, documentation, and operational readiness.\nFollow disciplined SDLC processes to ensure maintainability, reliability, and secure delivery.\nSkills and Experience:\nAt least 10 years of overall programming experience with strong programming experience in Rust or Go (or other compiled languages with intent to transition).\nSolid debugging skills across systems boundaries (services, integrations, networking).\nStrong understanding of network fundamentals, including:TCP/UDP\nNetwork latency, packet flows, connection management\nStreaming data patterns & backpressure\n\nExperience working with git and modern software development workflows.\nProven ability to work in a disciplined engineering environment (testing, CI, documentation, peer reviews).\nNice to have Skills\nFamiliarity with Helm charts and Kubernetes application deployment.\nExperience with containers (Docker, container tools) and secure containers.\nUnderstanding of edge security concepts and secure software practices.\nExposure to DevOps pipelines, CI/CD systems, or GitHub Actions / similar tools.\nBloom Energy is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions based on merit.
