We believe that, together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future while tackling the most pressing challenges of the 21st century.\nWe are looking for a Senior Engineer, Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Senior Manager, IT Operations and will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.\nEducation, Skills and Experience:\nEnsures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities. \nMaintain Linux server operating systems. \nMaintain and monitor server and network environment with Nagios.\nServes as a resource for the Network Systems Administrator in managing physical VMware Infrastructure.\nMaintain Nagios Environment by adding and removing hosts, increasing functionality to support a fast growth environment.\nDevelop automation scripts for consistency and supportability across multiple environments.\nPlan and execute timely Linux system upgrades and supported software patches.\nPlan, install and configure Linux systems\nProvide support for new applications and upgrades to existing systems\nDesign solutions to technical problems and implementation of new systems or infrastructure changes\nMonitor critical systems and take corrective actions prior to failures\nPrepare for disaster recovery and ensure that appropriate backups are completed and tested\nTroubleshoot software and hardware failures and identify network problems\nEstablish and maintain security and integrity controls\nExcellent verbal and written communication & collaboration skills.\nAbility to work with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize workload\nEffective time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities with attention to detail.\nAt least 5 years’ experience managing and maintaining a production Linux (CentOS, RedHat) environment\nDemonstrated expertise in managing Linux-based systems, and OS related services at scale.\nA familiarity with Windows Server and administering Active Directory\nAdvanced knowledge of security trends and best practices, experience managing hardening high-value systems against attackers.\nDemonstrated expertise in managing systems via an automated configuration management system such as Docker and Git repository.\nExtended experience working effectively in a shared software development environment, including version control, bug tracking, release management, and code review.\nExtended experience with Shell scripting, Perl, Python, and/or PHP.\nProven ability to lead and work on large/complex system deployment projects in a team environment, and ability to develop appropriate plans to meet computing needs.\nExperience in SAN multipathing software.\nExperience in VMWare virtualization\nBloom Energy is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit.
