And we're now one of the fastest growing tech scale-ups in Europe.\nWe are in search of a dedicated Embedded Systems Engineer to join our innovative team as our new #bloqstar. In this role, you'll play a crucial role in the development of firmware for our hardware products and the integration of high-level software with the firmware. The ideal candidate will have experience in IoT and embedded systems, from microcontrollers to SoC (System-on-a-Chip), with a strong background in RTOS, bootloaders, driver development, and OTA implementation.\nFair warning: we're scaling fast and the data and reporting capabilities are scaling with us. You'll often need to pull from multiple systems and build the picture yourself before you can analyse it. If you need everything pre-structured to do good work, this isn't the role.\nWhat you’ll be doing: \nDevelop and maintain firmware for various hardware components;\n\nDebug system-level issues across multiple stack layers from kernel to application and drive firmware/software code optimizations;\n\nUnderstand software components from multiple partner teams, lead the integration of those components into an unified product code base;\n\nDevelop and maintain Yocto Project-based Linux distributions (e.g., Torizon OS);\n\nCustomize existing Yocto layers, implement drivers and system configurations;\n\nDesign and implement firmware unit testing and configure CI pipelines;\n\nParticipate in design reviews, providing feedback and suggesting improvements to enhance hardware system performance and reliability;\n\nProduce comprehensive technical documentation.\n\nWhat you’ll bring to the table: \nMaster’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Software Engineering; 3-5 years of experience in Embedded Software and Systems development;\n\nProficient in Python and C/C++ applied at application level; Solid understanding of real-time embedded systems and OS (e.g., Embedded Linux, Yocto-based OS);\n\nExperience in distributed systems, microservices architectures and Docker;\n\nExperience with Django, FastAPI, Flask or similar for REST API development;\n\nExperience with Firmware unit testing; Familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN);\n\nIt would be great if you would also have:\n\nBasic awareness of cloud computing architectures;\n\nExperience troubleshooting hardware issues and providing technical support;\n\nFamiliarity with IoT and communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, 4G L TE, Nb-IoT);\n\nFamiliarity with AWS services (especially IoT Core and S3).\n\nWhy join us?\nThe opportunity to join our team and play a pivotal role in contributing to innovative solutions that redefine Bloq.it's revolution in the smart locker industry ;\n\nA dynamic and fast-paced work environment with a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning ;\n\nCompetitive salary and flexible benefits package, tailored to your experience and skills ;\n\nEligibility for performance-based bonus, tied to your results and designed to reward your impact ;\n\nWork how you work best - we offer a remote-friendly policy and flexible hours so you can stay productive and keep life balanced ;\n\nPortuguese Health Insurance including mental health ;\n\nFlexible Sports and Wellness membership covering multiple gyms and studios\n\nUnlimited days off (subject to manager approval).\n\nBloq.it is an equal opportunity employer.
