Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!\nThis role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.Blue Origin is seeking an Inventory Cost Accountant to lead the inventory accounting function across all of Blue Origin’s programs. The role includes day-to-day inventory accounting activities, month-end close support, and providing critical financial visibility into product costs, inventory, and work-in-process enabling leadership to make informed decisions with speed and confidence.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep cost accounting expertise in a complex manufacturing or aerospace environment and has passion for Blue Origin's mission to enable a future where millions of people live and work in space for the benefit of Earth. This individual will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Program Management, and FP&A to embed cost discipline and financial transparency across the enterprise.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOwn day-to-day inventory and manufacturing cost accounting activities, including raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and inventory allocations. \nPerform monthly inventory reconciliations between the ERP subledger and the general ledger and investigate any discrepancies.\nAnalyze the accounting treatment and financial impact of manufacturing transactions, including material consumption, labor, outplant processing, shipping, overhead, and other production costs.\nAnalyze variances between planned rates and actual rates for allocated production costs.\nSupport the calculation and analysis of inventory reserves, including excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory.\nAssist with physical inventory cycle counts.\nIdentify and drive opportunities to improve ERP processes, inventory controls, costing methodologies, and financial reporting.\nSupport product cost reporting and analysis, enabling clear visibility into unit economics and cost-per-unit trends for all Blue Origin products. \nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. \n8+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing accounting. \nStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it pertains to inventory and manufacturing costs in a production environment. \nAbility to investigate accounting issues and understand the underlying operational transactions that drive financial results.\nExperience with BOMs, production orders, labor standards, and overhead absorption.\nStrong understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nDirect experience in the aerospace or defense industry, particularly in rocket propulsion, launch vehicle, or satellite manufacturing environments.\nExperience with Microsoft D365\nProficiency with data analysis and scripting languages including Python and/or SQL.\nBase Pay Range for:\nWA applicants is $115,256.00 - $161,357.70Other site ranges may differ\nCulture Statement\nDon’t meet all desired requirements?
