Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nPerforms welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation.\n\nDetermines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond.\n\nWelds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining.\n\nUses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals.\n\nObserves tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.\n\nSet up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles.\n\nPerform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.\n\nAccurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\n\nMust be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical work instructions.\n\nSelf-sufficient, self-starter and driven.\n\n7+ years of experience GTAW welding in a manufacturing production environment.\n\nProficient in using Microsoft office suite applications\n\nMust be able to author/Develop weld schedules that meet AWS D17.1 Class A inspections requirements.\n\nFamiliar with all types of Non-Destructive testing and quality policies\n\nExperience in using automated welding equipment.\n\nSubstantial ability using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.\n\nMust be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.\n\nMust be able to pass a practical Weld Test (1F, 3F, 2G, 3G and 6G).\n\nMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nCertified per ASME Section IX\n\nSome technical coursework, trade school and/or AA technical degree/equivalent.\n\nFamiliarity with Geometric tolerancing (GD&T)\n\nExperience with mechanized welding technologies.\n\nLeadership experience.\n\nWillingness to mentor less experienced technicians and welders.\n\nExperience with 5S methodology and lean initiatives.\n\nCurrent GTAW certifications in accordance with AWS D17.1.\n\nExpert level of confidence in aerospace manufacturing specifications for structural and welded assemblies.\n\nAbility to operate material handling equipment.
