To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.We are seeking a Level 2 Software Engineer to join the Lunar Apps team in the Lunar Permanence business unit. Our team is responsible for developing innovative products that accelerate aerospace engineering and push the boundaries of what can be achieved with engineers collaborating across complex systems. As an L2 Software Engineer, your passion and capability to rapidly develop innovative solutions will directly influence the creation of tools which change how Lunar Permanence will store, analyze, and automate engineering data.\nWe are looking for someone to apply their technical know-how, drive to problem solve, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!\nKey Responsibilities:\nCollaborating extensively with other engineers to deliver features from our ambitious roadmap.\nImplementing new features using backend and frontend programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and React.\nIntegrating with AWS products such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, and others.\nParticipating in code reviews and helping peers write high-quality code.\nCommunicating ideas clearly through words, diagrams, and code.\nDiagnosing and resolving issues within existing software and addressing technical challenges as they arise.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.\n3+ years of experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.\nProficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java or C++).\nStrong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and common data structures.\nExperience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to deliver production-ready code.\nAbility to write efficient, working code given clear requirements.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to build trust and maintain positive relationships in a team setting.\nStrong problem-solving skills with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.\nA passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin's mission.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAerospace/systems engineering experience and/or experience developing software in an aerospace environment\nExperience with React, Python or Javascript/Typescript as a primary language\nExperience deploying software to AWS services such as RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3 using Terraform or similar infrastructure as code technologies. \nFamiliar with Infrastructure as Code and relevant technologies\nExperience with Docker and/or Kubernetes or other relevant containerization technologies\nExperience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or other relevant aerospace industry experience. \nWe prefer candidates located within commuting distance to our Renton, WA and Denver, CO offices.\nBase Pay Range for:\nCO applicants is $123,714.00 - $173,199.60\nWA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40Other site ranges may differ\nCulture Statement\nDon’t meet all desired requirements?
