We are hiring a motivated Software Engineer IIwhois eager tocontribute hands-on to production software that improves the scalability, reliability, usability, and governance of our data ecosystem. This positionwill work closely with data engineers, platform partners, and internal customers to deliver secure, maintainable solutions that reduce friction from data ingestion through consumption.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, deploy, and support production software components for Data Platform Automation (DPA)platform services, data pipelines, and automation workflows.\n\nImplement well-structured, observable, and maintainable services and integrations using sound software-engineering practices, including code review, automated testing, version control, and documentation.\n\nPartner with data engineers, analytics teams, platform owners, and internal customers to clarify requirements, translate operational needs into technical designs, and deliver iterative improvements.\n\nContribute to secure and reliable data-platform operations by monitoringservices, troubleshooting incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing durable corrective actions.\n\nImprove developer and user experience through automation, reusable tooling, clear interfaces, and simplification of repetitive operational work.\n\nParticipate in design reviews and technical discussions; communicate tradeoffs, risks, progress, and dependencies clearly to teammates and stakeholders.\n\nFollow Blue Origin engineering, security, data-governance, and quality standards while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n3+ years of professional software-development experience, including building, testing, and maintainingproduction software.\n\nProficiencyin at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, C#, Go, or TypeScript.\n\nProficiencywith Large Language Models (LLMs) for code generation, debugging, and development assistance.\n\nExperience with software-development fundamentals, including object-oriented or functional design, APIs, data structures, source control, automated testing, and debugging.\n\nWorking knowledge of SQL and relational or distributed data systems.\n\nAbility to investigate ambiguous technical issues, decompose work into achievable steps, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners.\n\nDemonstrated commitment to high-quality, secure, and dependable engineering practices.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience developing data-platform, analytics, workflow-orchestration, or cloud-based services.\n\nExperience with Databricks, Apache Airflow, Dagster, dbt, Tableau, or comparable data-engineering and analytics platforms.\n\nExperience with cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and production observability.\n\nExperience designing resilient integrations with APIs, event-driven systems, or enterprise data sources.\n\nFamiliarity with data quality, metadata, governance, access-control, or lineage practices.\n\nExperience working in an Agile product or platform team and partnering directly with internal customers.\n\nStrong written technical communication, including design notes, operational runbooks, and user-facing documentation.\n\nBase Pay Range for:\nWA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40Other site ranges may differ\nCulture Statement\nDon’t meet all desired requirements?
