Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.\nAs part of a small, passionate team of experts, you will be responsible for organizing and executing plans to characterize material samples using a variety of laboratory tests and equipment. In this hands-on position, you’ll work with engineers, scientists, and other technicians to validate the materials and processes used to build rocket engines. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!\nResponsibilities:\nPerform laboratory analyses, including tensile testing, hardness testing, metallographic preparation, and microstructural evaluation, per requests provided by internal customers\nAnalyze, document, and communicate results to stakeholders\nDemonstrate strict attention to detail in executing laboratory analyses\nMaintain laboratory equipment and facilities\nSafely work with hazardous systems containing chemicals, heat, and/or high pressure\nMust be physically able to:\nWork with and around chemicals and other hazardous materials\nWear appropriate PPE when needed\nQualifications:\n4+ years’ experience in analytical/characterization/testing laboratory environment required for Senior \nHands-on experience executing test plans\nBasic engineering laboratory skills: weights and measures, calculations, chemical hygiene, materials safety planning, personal protective equipment, contamination control, job hazard analysis, and work instruction\nStrong written and personal computer skills\nMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.\nDesired:\nExperience using equipment used for a variety of techniques (specimen preparation, optical microscopy, microhardness testing, mechanical testing, etc.). Certifications are a plus, but not required.\nFamiliarity with typical aerospace testing and quality processes (AS9100, FOD Control, Lean, 5S, etc.)\nExperience in forensic analysis of materials via SEM, FT-IR, etc.\nKnowledge of the types of materials and processes used to fabricate aerospace components\nAbility to operate manual machine tools (saws, mills, etc.)\nCulture Statement\nDon’t meet all desired requirements?
