Along the way, we’ve developed some of the most innovative tools available in analytics, media optimization, reporting, and influencer outreach.\nAbout the role:\nAs a Data Engineer II, you will be a key technical contributor working directly alongside the Director of Data to advance the vision and maturity of our data platform. This role is focused on elevating data quality, driving platform modernization, and leading the migration of existing data systems to a Kimball/star schema architecture. You will take ownership of complex, high-impact engineering work - moving from contributor to driving force on data modeling standards, hygiene practices, and the long-term scalability of our data infrastructure.\nIn this position you will:\nPartner directly with the Director of Data to translate platform vision into engineering execution\nLead the design and implementation of Kimball-style dimensional models and star schema architectures, migrating legacy data systems to a modern, scalable foundation.\nOwn and enforce data hygiene standards across the platform - identifying, documenting, and remediating data quality issues proactively.\nDesign, build, and maintain production-grade data pipelines with a focus on reliability, observability, and maintainability.\nDevelop and champion best practices for data modeling, transformation, and testing across the engineering team.\nDrive the extraction and codification of business logic from existing systems into well-documented, portable, cloud-agnostic layers.\nCollaborate with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure data models meet both current reporting needs and future platform requirements.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to Data Engineer I team members.\nContribute to architectural decisions and participate in design reviews, bringing a principled, opinionated perspective on platform direction.\nSupport and improve documentation standards to ensure the codebase and data platform remain well-understood across the team.\nWhat we are seeking:\n5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a demonstrated track record of owning and delivering complex data platform initiatives.\nDeep expertise in dimensional modeling, including Kimball methodology and star/snowflake schema design.\nExperience leading or significantly contributing to data warehouse migrations or platform modernization efforts.\nAdvanced proficiency with SQL and Python; ability to write production-quality, well-tested, maintainable code.\nStrong command of dbt, including advanced features such as custom tests, macros, packages, and documentation generation.\nHands-on experience with Snowflake & Redshift and modern data stack tooling.\nA systematic, principled approach to data quality - experience implementing data hygiene frameworks, validation pipelines, and monitoring.\nAbility to operate with autonomy and drive work forward in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical decisions to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.\nPassion for applying technical skills to social impact work and the ability to thrive in a cross-functional, mission-driven team.\nOther duties as assigned. \nWhat We Offer:\nBlueLabs offers a friendly work environment and competitive compensation and benefits package including:\nSalary: $95,000 - $125,000\nPremier health insurance plan\n401K matching\nUnlimited vacation leave\nPaid sick, personal, and volunteer leave\n13 paid holidays\n15 weeks paid parental leave\nProfessional development stipend & tuition reimbursement\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nSupportive & collaborative culture\nFlexible working hours\nRemote friendly (within the U.S.)\nAnd more!\nThe salary range for candidates who meet the minimum posted qualifications reflects the Company's good faith understanding and belief as to the wage range, and is accurate as of the date of this job posting.\nAt BlueLabs, we celebrate, support and thrive on differences.
