The GM is a new role to support the projects transition from Construction phase thru to Operations and to provide the leadership during the life of operation. This role ensures safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with Norwegian regulations and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.\nThe General Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams across mining, processing, maintenance, health & safety, and support functions, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities\nLeadership & Strategy\nFoster a strong safety culture and high-performance work environment\nProvide visible, values-driven leadership aligned with company objectives\nDevelop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies\nEnsure a smooth transition, working closely with Construction and commissioning to achieve name plate production for mine and process plant\nLead and mentor department heads and senior leadership team\nOperations Management\nOversee all aspects of mining and processing operations\nEnsure production targets are met in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner\nMonitor KPIs and implement performance improvement initiatives\nOptimize mine planning, ore recovery, plant throughput and concentrate production and sale\nHealth, Safety & Environment (HSE)\nEnsure full compliance with Norwegian HSE regulations and internal standards\nPromote a zero-harm culture across all operations\nOversee risk management, incident investigations, and corrective actions\nEnsure environmental compliance, including emissions, water management, and reclamation\nRegulatory & Compliance\nEnsure compliance with Norwegian laws and regulatory bodies such as Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority and Norwegian Environment Agency\nMaintain permits, licenses, and reporting requirements\nCoordinate activities required for obtaining any additional permits, if required\nEnsure adherence to industry best practices and ESG standards\nFinancial Management\nDevelop and manage operating and capital budgets\nDrive cost control, productivity, and profitability initiatives\nReport financial and operational performance to executive leadership\nStakeholder Engagement\nBuild strong relationships with local communities, municipalities, and Indigenous groups (including Sami stakeholders where applicable)\nAct as the primary representative of the company at site level\nEngage with unions and workforce representatives in line with Norwegian labour practices\nProjects & Growth\nSupport expansion projects, mine life extension, and capital development\nOversee construction, commissioning, and ramp-up activities when required\nIdentify and implement innovation and digitalization opportunities\nQualifications & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, or related field\nMinimum 20+ years of experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles\nExperience in underground mining operations\nExperience in managing processing facilities, preferably concentrators\nExperience in managing multi-department operations\nExperience in managing operations financials, HR and sales processes\n Track record of positive community relationship and external stakeholder management\nStrong understanding of Scandinavian or international mining regulations and standards\nProven track record in leading large, multidisciplinary teams\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong leadership, business acumen and decision-making abilities\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills\nChange management and continuous improvement
