BMC is seeking a hands-on Director to lead the Mainframe Technical Services (MTS) organization within Intelligent Z Optimization and Transformation (IZOT). This leader will be accountable for both strategic direction and operational execution across mainframe infrastructure, platform operations, security, automation, resiliency, and enterprise transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will build and lead high-performing teams while personally driving execution of critical initiatives, operational excellence, technology modernization, and business outcomes. The role requires a strong bias for action, ownership, accountability, and measurable delivery.

Execution & Operational Accountability

• Own end-to-end execution and delivery of infrastructure, platform, security, storage, networking, resiliency, and operational initiatives.
• Establish delivery plans, milestones, metrics, and accountability mechanisms.
• Ensure reliable, secure, scalable, and highly availablemainframe platforms.
• Lead capacity planning, workload forecasting, technology currency, and lifecycle management activities.
• Drive execution of major upgrade, migration, modernization, and infrastructure transformation programs.
• Ensure compliance with change management, security, audit, and recovery requirements.

Mainframe Modernization & Transformation

• Lead strategic initiatives including Mainframemodernization and related infrastructure transformation programs.
• Drive adoption of automation-first operating models to reduce manual effort and improve productivity.
• Partner with Architecture, Product Development, Security, and Operations teams to accelerate business outcomes.
• Translate executive priorities into measurable execution plans and operational results.

People Leadership

• Lead managers, architects, engineers, and technical specialists across multiple functional domains.
• Drive talent development, succession planning, workforce transformation, and organizational effectiveness.
• Coach and develop future leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and execution excellence.
• Manage employee performance, development planning, engagement, and retention.

Financial & Portfolio Management

• Own operational budgets, workforce planning, vendor management, and investment prioritization.
• Develop business cases and ROI analysis for strategic investments.
• Monitor financial performance and ensure effective utilizationof resources.
• Report business outcomes, risks, operational metrics, and transformation progress to senior leadership.

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical and operational issues.
• Provide guidance on performance optimization, system tuning, resiliency, disaster recovery, and security initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identifyopportunities to enhance platform capabilities and operational efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with IBM and strategic technology partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressively increasing IT leadership experience.
• 8+ years leading managers, large technical organizations, or infrastructure/platform engineering teams.
• Expertisein IBM Z, z/OS, Linux on Z, Storage, Security, Networking, Middleware, or Enterprise Operations.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, GitHub, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, and AI-enabled automation.
• Experience leading large-scale infrastructure modernization, platform engineering, or transformation initiatives.
• Proven track recordof delivering complex transformation and modernization programs.
• Strong experience managing budgets, staffing plans, vendor relationships, and operational governance.
