This hands-on role offers broad exposure across domestic income tax, federal, state, local and international tax matters, as well as information reporting and unclaimed property.\nYou’ll own key tax workstreams, review work prepared by others, partner closely with teams across Finance and Accounting, and serve as a trusted resource on evolving tax requirements. You’ll also have the opportunity to improve how the function operates through stronger processes, automation and technology.\nThis role is a great fit for someone who is hands-on, and enjoys both the technical side of tax and the opportunity to build more efficient, scalable ways of working.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLead federal, state and local tax compliance, including income and franchise, sales and use, property, gross receipts and other applicable taxes.\nPrepare and review tax returns, workpapers, payments and quarterly estimated payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and appropriate documentation.\nReview transactional tax work prepared by other team members and provide guidance and feedback to support accurate and compliant filings.\nMonitor multi-state nexus and registration requirements and coordinate new state tax registrations as BMI’s business activity expands.\nResearch evolving tax laws and technical issues, assess their impact on BMI, and document recommendations and tax positions.\nRespond to and resolve notices and correspondence from federal, state and local taxing authorities.\nSupport quarterly and annual income tax provision activities under ASC 740, including deferred tax analysis and effective tax rate reconciliations.\nIdentify and help implement tax planning opportunities that appropriately manage tax liability and risk.\nSupport tax matters related to mergers, acquisitions, entity formations, dissolutions and other corporate restructuring activities, as needed.\nPartner with Accounts Payable and Royalty Accounting on information reporting, including Forms 1099, 1042 and 1042-S, foreign-payee withholding, and W-9/W-8 documentation.\nManage BMI’s unclaimed property compliance program, including state filings, required due diligence and outreach, and recordkeeping.\nSupport international tax and reporting requirements, including FBAR and other applicable foreign information returns, Pillar II reporting, withholding tax and transfer pricing matters.\nPartner with the International Controller to support statutory financial reporting requirements for international subsidiaries, as needed.\nCoordinate relationships with outside tax advisors, consultants and tax technology vendors, including oversight of engagements and related budgets.\nLead process improvement and automation initiatives that make tax and accounting processes more efficient, accurate and scalable.\nDevelop and maintain tax policies, procedures and controls that reflect current regulatory requirements and internal controls.\nServe as a project lead for departmental initiatives and special projects.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.\n5–7 years of progressive corporate tax experience, with proven experience in domestic income tax.\nStrong knowledge of federal, state and local tax requirements, with demonstrated ability to research complex tax matters and translate findings into practical recommendations.\nExperience preparing and/or reviewing tax returns and supporting tax compliance processes.\nStrong analytical, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-tax audiences.\nA high degree of integrity, discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.\nPreferred Qualifications and Experience\nCPA license.\nMaster’s degree in Taxation.\nPublic accounting experience.\nInternational tax experience.\nMulti-state franchise, sales and use, and property tax compliance experience.\nExperience with Oracle EBS or a similar ERP platform.\nWhy BMI\nMusic matters, and so does the work behind it.
