The role is hands-on across Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualisation platforms, and core infrastructure, working on both day-to-day operational tasks and customer projects. The engineer acts as a trusted technical resource, ensuring stability, security, and scalability of customer systems.\nKey Responsibilities\nCustomer Environment Operations\nOnboard, administer, and operate customer cloud and on-premise environments in line with agreed service scopes.\nHandle day-to-day operational issues, requests, and project tasks across a mixed technology estate.\nSupport infrastructure-related networking tasks in collaboration with Network Infrastructure Engineers\nCloud & Microsoft 365 Platforms\nInstall, configure, administer, and manage Azure services including compute instances, Azure Backup, Azure Storage, monitoring, snapshots, and recovery services.\nConfigure, administer, and support Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Defender, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and related security controls.\nInfrastructure & Virtualisation\nAdminister Windows and Linux server environments, both physical and virtual.\nManage virtualisation platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.\nSupport SAN and storage platforms, capacity management, and performance optimisation.\nProject Delivery & Implementation\nAssist in the design and implementation of new customer solutions and infrastructure projects.\nExecute project tasks in collaboration with Solution Architects and senior engineers.\nAutomation & Tooling\nUse scripting and automation (PowerShell and related tools) to improve operational efficiency and consistency.\nContribute to standardisation of deployments and operational processes.\nPreventive Maintenance & Reliability\nProactively plan and execute preventive maintenance, patching, and service enhancements.\nEnsure environments remain secure, supported, and aligned with best practices.\nIssue Ownership & Customer Focus\nTake ownership of assigned issues from start to resolution, applying sound judgement and clear prioritisation.\nCommunicate effectively with customers and internal teams throughout incident resolution.\nCommercial & Internal Collaboration\nWork with commercial and service teams to understand customer requirements and support solution design.\nHighlight technical risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.\nDocumentation\nDocument environments, configurations, changes, and problem resolutions clearly and accurately.\nOperational Requirements\nParticipate in an on-call rotation.\nCarry out onsite customer visits when required.\nMay be assigned different duties in accordance with Group exigencies from time to time.\nSkills & Experience (Indicative)\nRequired\nHands-on experience operating and supporting Windows and/or Linux server environments and virtualisation platforms.\nExperience administering Microsoft 365 services and identity (Entra ID) in a support/operations capacity.\nExperience supporting Azure services (compute, storage, backup, monitoring) and responding to operational incidents.\nStrong troubleshooting skills and ability to own issues through to resolution within SLAs.\nStrong documentation and change control discipline.\nDesirable\nRelevant certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365, VMware).\nAutomation experience (PowerShell) and exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.\nExperience with endpoint management (Intune), security tooling (Defender), or backup/DR
