Dive into cutting-edge Maritime and Defence work that keeps our nation’s assets safe, efficient and mission ready.\nOur Maritime Design and Engineering team draws on the combined strength of BMT and AMT, bringing together more than 40 years of experience across Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems/C4I Engineering to meet growing industry demand.\nRecent Mechanical Engineering graduates and early-career engineers (1-2 years’ experience) are encouraged to apply.\nKey Responsibilities\nYou’ll be working on a diverse range of exciting projects, in support of a wide range of Australian and regional maritime programs, both for new construction (such as the current Royal Australian Navy surface ship programs) and for sustaining and upgrading current ships of the RAN Fleet and for regional Navies.\nMore specifically you will:\nPerform specialist mechanical design and engineering in support of the integration of equipment and systems on naval vessels.\nProvide mechanical engineering support and guidance within whole of ship design teams involving all technical disciplines of Naval Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical and Combat Systems integration.\nUndertake engineering projects from engineering investigations, through design concepts and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) interaction, all the way through preliminary and detail design to production implementation and customer acceptance; and\nRepresent the company on a professional and technical basis with our Defence/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and system supplier community.\nSkills, Knowledge & Expertise\nTo be successful, you will need the following skills and attributes:\nA degree in Mechanical Engineering.\nKnowledge of designing mechanical and marine components and systems.\nExcellent written communication and interpersonal abilities. \nWell-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills. \nEffective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and\nThe motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities within a highly supportive, multi-discipline engineering environment. \nDue to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
