Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.\nAn exciting career opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer position supporting a team of engineers and technicians who maintain and operate the largest wind tunnel in the world.\nOpen to internal and external candidates.\nJob Summary\nUnder the guidance and direction of an experienced engineer the successful candidate will evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support wind tunnel testing, facility operations and maintenance at the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex (NFAC) and perform the duties listed below.\nJob Duties:\nPerform work, generally within mechanical engineering, involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment.\nResponsibilities include the mechanical design of wind tunnel model components and interface hardware; developing design drawing packages (Solidworks/Autocad experience desirable); developing and reviewing hand calculations for mechanical, structural, and stress analyses reports; working closely with customer and test team to establish design requirements; guiding design proposals through internal approval processes; lead projects through entire lifecycle (planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and close out); coordination and supervision of NFAC technicians and outside contractors; asset management of facility systems and subsystems; troubleshooting and creating repair work orders; and supporting the institution of predictive maintenance principles.\nHands-on field work is expected and multidisciplinary experience maintaining facility mechanical (hydraulic and pneumatic power, compressors, pumps, etc.), electrical (motors), and control systems (PLC, instrumentation) is highly desirable.\nThe working environment is highly dynamic and will require assisting and supporting the management of several projects simultaneously.\nPosition will be surrounded with a staff of technicians and engineers of varying disciplines, so the ability to work well and effectively communicate with others is critical.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.\nExcellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills are essential.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy\nPerform other duties as required. \nResponsibilities\nBasic Qualifications:\nAccredited B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering .\nH07: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.\nH08: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field. \nMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network.\nCurrent U.
