As a Sr. Platform Engineer, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of OpenShift, Linux Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.\nOpen to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g. application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.\nJob Summary\nBeyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.\nAEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental tests and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight tests. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.\nBNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for a Sr. Platform Engineer to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.\nJob Duties:\nInstall, configure, administer, maintain, and upgrade Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters.\nManage OpenShift cluster lifecycle activities, including version upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, capacity planning, and configuration management.\nConfigure and troubleshoot core platform services, including cluster networking, ingress, DNS, certificates, identity and access management, role-based access control, storage integration, and security controls.\nMonitor cluster health, performance, capacity, availability, and resource utilization; identify trends and implement corrective or preventive actions.\nDiagnose and resolve complex issues involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, containerized workloads, networking, storage, and supporting infrastructure.\nImplement and maintain platform automation using tools such as Ansible, GitOps, Helm, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.\nDevelop, maintain, and improve deployment patterns, operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, architecture documentation, and knowledge articles.\nApply system security configurations, vulnerability remediation, hardening, patching, and configuration baselines in accordance with applicable program and organizational requirements.\nApply, validate, document, and remediate Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)\nPartner with application, cybersecurity, network, storage, and infrastructure teams to onboard workloads and resolve cross-functional technical issues.\nProvide technical guidance to less-experienced administrators and engineers.\nParticipate in maintenance windows and provide after-hours support for critical infrastructure incidents when required.\nResearch emerging information-system technologies and recommend improvements that increase platform reliability, security, automation, or customer usability.\nProvide professional technical support to AEDC customers, teammates, and partner contractors.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering with five (5) years of professional experience in platform engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure operations. \nIn lieu of bachelor’s degree 9 years of experience similar to the above.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.\nU.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCompTIA Security+ certification.\nDirect experience installing, upgrading, and operating Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform in a production environment.\nRed Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer, or comparable Kubernetes/OpenShift certification.\nExperience operating OpenShift in restricted, disconnected, or highly regulated DoD environments.\nExperience with container networking, software-defined networking, ingress, load balancing, DNS, certificates, and identity services.\nExperience integrating OpenShift with enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp ONTAP, NFS, persistent volumes, and storage classes.\nExperience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools, such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or comparable platforms.\nExperience with vulnerability management, security hardening, ACAS, Risk Management Framework activities, and security documentation.\nExperience implementing and assessing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), including use of automated compliance tools, exception documentation, and remediation tracking.\nExperience with VMware, Active Directory, Veeam, and enterprise backup/recovery processes.\nFamiliarity with high-performance computing or test-and-evaluation environments.\nExperience supporting Linux, and Windows server environments.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salaries\nContinuing education assistance\nMultiple healthcare benefits packages\n401K with employer matching\nPaid time off (PTO) along with a federally recognized holiday schedule\nWho We Are\nBeyond New Horizons (BNH) is a fully populated joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc. formed to provide unmatched Test Operations and Sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex.\nWe chose our name to serve as an enduring reminder of our commitment to AEDC’s rich aerospace research and development legacy anchored in AEDC’s Towards New Horizons founding study and the unprecedented opportunities to greatly expand AEDC’s capabilities and capacity Beyond those existing today.
