These products are engineered to meet the evolving needs of the global drilling industry, offering maximum performance, reliability, and safety in the most demanding conditions.\nJob Overview\nBoart Longyear is seeking Maintenance Apprentices (3rd, 4th, or 5th Year) to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities within our manufacturing operations. This role is designed for registered apprentices progressing toward Millwright 433A certification.\nMaintenance Apprentices work under the guidance of licensed journeypersons to maintain production equipment and facility systems, contributing to safe, efficient operations while continuing their technical development in a unionized manufacturing environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssist in performing preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems in accordance with maintenance schedules.\nSupport troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment under supervision.\nAssist with replacement of worn or damaged components, equipment alignment, and basic calibration tasks.\nRead and interpret schematics, blueprints, and maintenance manuals with guidance from journeypersons.\nAccurately document work performed, parts used, and observations in maintenance logs or CMMS.\nRespond to equipment breakdowns and production issues alongside licensed technicians.\nMaintain compliance with all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and PPE requirements.\nParticipate in on-the-job training and demonstrate continuous skill development.\nPerform other reasonable duties as assigned.\nKey Skills & Competencies\nTechnical Foundation: Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems appropriate to apprenticeship level.\nTroubleshooting Support: Ability to assist in identifying equipment issues and learning root-cause analysis techniques.\nPreventive Maintenance Awareness: Familiarity with PM concepts and maintenance best practices.\nSafety Focus: Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures.\nDocumentation Skills: Ability to complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.\nCommunication: Clear communication with supervisors, journeypersons, and production teams.\nLearning Agility: Willingness to learn, take direction, and apply feedback in a fast-paced environment.\nPhysical and Environmental Conditions\nWork Environment: Manufacturing shop floor.\nPhysical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required.\nAdditional Information\nThis position does not offer visa sponsorship.
