The program aims to prepare students to advance fundamental research in computer science and artificial intelligence, combining strong mathematical and computational foundations with research in computer science and artificial intelligence.\n\nThe Department’s research spans theoretical computer science, algorithms, cryptography, optimization, machine learning and artificial intelligence, including natural language processing and computer vision. Its interdisciplinary activities connect these fields with computational neuroscience, biology, and the physics of complex systems.\n\nStudents join an international research community whose faculty bring together top expertise in computer science, mathematics and physics and include numerous recipients of ERC grants. Departmental seminars, reading groups and connections across Bocconi’s academic community provide opportunities for scientific exchange and interdisciplinary research.\n\nWe welcome applications from highly motivated candidates with strong quantitative skills and graduate training in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science or related fields. \n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n\nApplications can be submitted by candidates of any citizenship who:\n\nhave completed or are completing their graduate studies and\n\nhave at least a “proven” B2 (CEFR) level of competence in English \n\nThe PhD School offers a maximum of 8 places with a fellowship fully funded by Tech Europe Foundation (TEF).\n\nFellowships amount to € 27,000 gross for all four years.
