This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.\nThe selected candidate will work with the Ground Systems product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of an advanced ground operating system. The Operating System definition we use is broad. Besides covering multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Cisco IOS, CDOT, WindRiver VXWorks, ESXi, etc) it consists of the provided infrastructure necessary to provide all services of the system. We specialize in air gapped, full featured, and totally self contained systems, but have also developed WAN connected systems.\nPosition Responsibilities:\nAssists with the design, development, architecture, and maintenance of software solutions for network stack protocol software used to securely exchange data between systems.\n\nParticipates in performance analysis, testing, monitoring and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify and address risks, weaknesses and vulnerabilities.\n\nGathers information to provide input on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products.\n\nGathers information to support software project management activities and software supplier management functions.\n\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):\nBachelor’s Degree\n\nExperience in Linux deployment and administration including bash scripting, remote access, and deployment\n\nExperience in Basic networking, storage administration, and package management\n\nExperience in Basic virtualization principles\n\nExperience in Containerization, and Kubernetes familiarity\n\nPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):\nBachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science\n\nAn active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).\n\nLevel 2 (Associate): 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience\n\nLevel 3 (Experienced): 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience\n\nKnowledge of communications and network concepts and principles.\n\nKnowledge of multi-discipline integrating issues applicable to communications and network systems, including primary characteristics such as physical and functional interfaces, communications reliability, link availability, and environmental constraints.\n\nAdditional characteristics include: human factors, maintainability, testability, supportability, mechanical design, packaging, electrical, and software.\n\nKnowledge of software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. Programming languages encompass higher order languages, auto-coded languages and assembly languages\n\nKnowledge of the practical application of network technologies. Ability to solve difficult network problems like Quality of Service, multi-level security, network protocol conversion, network management problems and application optimization.\n\nAbility to innovate in the area of new network systems modeling, simulation, and emulation.\n\nKnowledge of programming languages used in modeling, simulation and emulation.\n\nKnowledge of software development and testing tools (e.g. desktop simulation tools, configuration management tools, requirements management tools).\n\nKnowledge of computer hardware design and operating systems as it relates to modeling, simulation and emulation.\n\nKnowledge of programming languages used for networking problems.\n\nKnowledge of computing equipment and multiple operating systems.\n\nKnowledge of communications, networking protocols.\n\nKnowledge of software development and testing tools capability and usage.\n\nAbility to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.\n\nKnowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require real-time software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches.\n\nKnowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.\n\nKnowledge of software architecture and design methodologies.
