This role has two fundamental aspects which are both weighted equally. The first is to act as the First Line Leader for a team of Systems Engineers. The Systems Engineering team comprises core Systems Engineers who cover all parts of the system lifecycle and Training Systems Engineers who are specialists in training related technology, products and processes. The second is to balance your time between being a First Line Leader and providing leadership and direct input as part of a team to deliver Systems Engineering work scope to Programmes and Business Development opportunities across the company.\nThis role calls for strong leadership, solid technical knowledge, and the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment. The individual will help drive team performance and support strong collaboration across stakeholders.\nKey responsibilities include:\nLeadership and management of the Systems Engineering team (including line management related admin, wellbeing and HR related activities).\nSupport team members’ development through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and growth opportunities.\nBuild a culture of accountability, teamwork, and technical excellence.\nEncourage knowledge sharing and ongoing skills development across the team.\nOverall responsibility for ensuring all team engineering goals and milestones are delivered.\nDrive Continuous Improvement initiatives across the team.\nOversee, contribute to and deliver Systems Engineering work across programmes and bids & proposals through working closely with cross-functional teams.\nWork with Business Unit Chief Engineers and Chief Programme Engineers on resource planning to make sure the team can meet current and future workload needs.\nSuccession planning for current and future business needs.\nSupport the wider department and Senior Manager where needed.\nBuild and maintain strong networks with Engineering colleagues across the Enterprise.\nBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):\nCandidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership\".\nA degree-level, or equivalent, qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline is required.\nAbility to work well with teams that are spread across different locations.\nExperience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills.\nStrong stakeholder management, team building, and leadership experience.\nAbility to influence and engage effectively at multiple levels within the organisation.\nExperience in coaching and developing technical talent.\nExcellent leadership, communication, influencing and people skills.\nDemonstrates a good set of core values through integrity, ownership, teamwork, and a commitment to quality and safety.\nBuilds trust through open communication, respect, and inclusive leadership.\nCommitment to developing others and building team capability.\nPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):\nHands-on Systems Engineering experience.\nA track record of working on air platforms and / or training systems would be advantageous. \nAbility to make good decisions under pressure and work independently and proactively.\nCommercial awareness and budget control experience\nA collaborative, customer-focused approach, with the ability to represent Boeing at senior levels.\nWork Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK.
