Success in this position will require the ability to understand and comply with customer technical, installation and aesthetic requirements relative to Wi-Fi installations in government and commercial buildings with diverse floor plans and construction. Strong planning, scheduling, management and communication skills as well as attention to detail are absolute requirements in this role. You will be responsible for planning and managing the installation of wireless network at various venues in Kansas City, KS.\nResponsibilities\nInform customer personnel of up-coming Wi-Fi service and installation activities\nConduct site survey of local area and buildings\nIdentify typical and unique building architecture, floor plans and construction techniques\nPrepare or oversee the preparation of installation drawings in accordance with\nBoingo engineering technical requirements\nCustomer requirements\nUS Government Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) (as required)\nBase Exterior Architecture Plan (BEAP) (as required)\nOther applicable documents\nInstallation subcontractor bid requirements\nPrepare area installation schedule\nPrepare Statement of Work (SOW)\nProvide clarification and/or answer questions during the bid process\nReview installation subcontractor bid packages\nSelect installation subcontractor\nMonitor and manage installation subcontractor(s) (wiring, racks, radios, electronics, link radio alignments, etc.) performance in accordance with\nSOW\nSchedule\nBudget\nQuality standards\nCustomer requirements\nEnsure that all necessary keys or card keys are available to access utility chases, telecom rooms, electrical rooms, attics and roofs are available when needed\nOversee the preparation of as-built installation drawings in accordance with customer requirements\nEnsure that any building, grounds or property damage resulting from the Wi-Fi installation is repaired to customer satisfaction\nPrepare and submit status reports to customer\nSupport field and network engineers during testing phase as required\nSupport area marketing campaign as required\nAdditional Responsibilities\nNetwork monitoring and incident response\nOutstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.\nAbility to install and configure switches, wireless controllers\nMust have the ability to work well on a team as well as be able to work independently.\nMust have the ability and proven skill set to manage, coordinate and prioritize work tasks to ensure timely and quality work.\nEffectively work independently on projects/tasks\nPerform analysis and diagnosis of complex networking problems\nWork directly with customers on network access and network speed problems as Tier 2 customer support\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s Degree preferred or a minimum of 3-5 years of operations management experience (inside plant or cable/telecommunications and Wi-Fi design, installation and optimization experience is strongly desired).\nExperience with Wi-Fi access point and wireless controller configurations, preferably with Ruckus and Cisco equipment.\nNeeds to possess a functional understanding of various central office network elements\nMust be able to gather and organize data, then make logical decisions based on that data and implement a solution.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office & Visio\nProficiency with Windows, Mac, and various handheld OS wireless network settings (to troubleshoot with customers)\nMust be computer literate, and have the ability to learn new programs.\nMust have good communication and interpersonal skills\nMust meet physical requirements of the role which include gaining access to and working on building rooftops installing microwave equipment and able to carry 70+ lb. if needed.\nPosition will participate in on-call rotation to provide 24-hour support\nMust have car and be willing to travel within a region\n\nNice to have\nProficiency with switch configurations, including VLANs, trunking vs. access and other port settings\nA working understanding of DHCP and DNS\nIP addressing and subnetting\nKnowledge of Wireless technology, including 802.11 b/g/n/ac and point-to-point radios\nKnowledge and/or experience with microwave radios (Ruckus, Siklu, Ubiquity), Cisco switching, routing and wireless equipment\nExperience with installation and maintenance of outdoor fixed wireless systems, including microwave, millimeter wave and unlicensed 5.8 GHz radios\nCentOS Linux a plus, including DNS, DHCP, Radius, Apache, and NTP\nMulticast IPTV experience a plus\nStrong oral and written communication skills, highly detail oriented, goal oriented, and a strong desire to make a difference!\n\nMeet Boingo - named among the Best Places to Work!\nBoingo Wireless simplifies complex wireless challenges to connect people, businesses, and things.
