This transition will allow us to expand our lending across more EU countries and broaden our product suite to deliver even more value.\nJoin us on this journey and let’s build the future of finance together!\nWhat is this role about?\nAs a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the data platform powering Bondora’s journey towards becoming a bank.\nYou’ll be responsible for our Databricks platform, Azure infrastructure, ingestion pipelines, and integration layer. Our platform already works well; your mission will be to make it exceptional through strong ownership, reliable engineering, clear governance, and scalable standards.\nThis is a rare opportunity to shape how data engineering is done across the company. You won’t simply maintain pipelines-you’ll define the platform, standards, tools, and ways of working that enable teams to build trusted data products across Marketing, Operations, Identity, and Finance.\nYou’ll enjoy a high degree of ownership, a diverse set of technical and business problems, and an environment where engineers are empowered to make decisions. You’ll also get to work with the latest technologies, including agentic coding. If you discover a tool that could make us more productive, show us what it can do and help us put it to work.\nYour main responsibilities will be:\nOwn and continuously improve our Databricks data platform and supporting Azure infrastructure.\nBuild, maintain, and scale reliable production data pipelines and ingestion processes.\nAct as first responder for data platform incidents, including cross-platform issues that surface as data quality problems.\nImprove platform performance, security, secrets management, observability, and cost efficiency.\nStrengthen data governance through clear ownership, access and PII management, and the identification of orphaned jobs.\nOwn the integration layer and establish strong engineering standards for testing, versioning, code reviews, CI/CD, and GitHub-based workflows.\nData agent usage is growing rapidly - part of the role is designing the access, cost, and observability boundaries so agents scale safely without becoming the dominant cost line.\"\nYour early impact will include taking ownership of critical pipelines, eliminating recurring failures, identifying and preparing orphaned jobs for handover, and parallelizing our largest ingestion pipelines.\nWhat would ensure success in this role?\nStrong hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, or other distributed data-processing technologies.\nExperience building, operating, and improving production-grade data pipelines.\nA solid software engineering foundation, including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, versioning, and code reviews.\nExperience working in regulated environments such as finance, banking, reporting, or AML/KYC.\nA strong ownership and reliability mindset-you follow problems through to resolution and make sure they stay fixed.\nExcellent communication skills, a structured approach, and the confidence to establish standards in a fast-moving environment.\nBonus points for having\nFamiliarity with dbt or other modern data-stack technologies.\nExperience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.\nExperience designing scalable integration layers involving APIs and third-party platforms.\nKnowledge of data privacy, access control, and PII governance.\nWhat can you expect at Bondora?\nHow often do you get the chance to help build a bank?\nThe European consumer credit market represents an €855 billion opportunity.
