The role focuses on preparing construction work packages, developing QA/QC documentation, reviewing engineering drawings, coordinating procurement requirements, assisting with estimates, and maintaining accurate project records.\nWorking closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors, and clients, you will help ensure construction activities are well planned, technically coordinated, and delivered in accordance with project specifications, Australian Standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.\nJOB DESCRIPTION FOR PROJECT ENGINEER\nResponsibilities as a Project Engineer:\n1. Construction Work Package Development\nPrepare construction work packages for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, and equipment installation activities.\nReview Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.\nDevelop construction methodologies, installation sequences, and work instructions.\nCompile drawings, scopes, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), Material Take-Offs (MTOs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection and Test Records (ITRs), SWMS/JHAs, permits, inspection requirements, resources, and schedules into construction-ready packages.\nCoordinate work package reviews and approvals with site teams.\nMaintain work package registers and track reviews, approvals, and close-out. 2. Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)\nPrepare and maintain project-specific QA/QC documentation in line with client requirements, project specifications, applicable Australian Standards, and quality management procedures.\nDevelop ITPs, ITRs, inspection checklists, Material Inspection Reports (MIRs), Field Inspection Requests (FIRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), material traceability records, and quality registers.\nDefine inspection and testing requirements, hold and witness points, acceptance criteria, and inspection responsibilities.\nCoordinate inspection records, test reports, material certificates, and quality documentation.\nTrack outstanding quality items and support their timely close-out.\nAssist with Manufacturer Data Reports (MDRs), construction completion records, and project handover dossiers. 3. Engineering and Technical Support\nReview engineering drawings, vendor documentation, and technical specifications for completeness and constructability.\nIdentify drawing discrepancies, design conflicts, and missing information.\nPrepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs) and Technical Queries (TQs).\nCoordinate technical clarifications across civil, structural, mechanical, and piping disciplines.\nMaintain drawing registers, revision control, and as-built/redline documentation.\nSupport communication between engineering, project management, procurement, and construction teams. 4. Estimating, Quantity Take-Off and Procurement Support\nPrepare and verify MTOs, BOQs, and drawing-based quantity calculations.\nAssist with project estimates, tender submissions, variations, and quantity reconciliation.\nPrepare material requisitions and review supplier and subcontractor quotations against technical specifications.\nIdentify differences between quoted items and project requirements.\nMonitor long-lead materials, procurement constraints, and potential supply issues. 5. Project Planning and Coordination\nSupport construction scheduling and resource planning using Microsoft Project or equivalent software.\nCoordinate construction priorities and readiness requirements with site personnel.\nMaintain action registers, deliverable trackers, and weekly progress reports.\nMonitor documentation and procurement requirements that may affect project progress.\nIdentify delays, missing information, and potential issues, escalating them to the appropriate project personnel. 6. Document Control and Project Administration\nMaintain accurate and organised project records for drawings, work packages, RFIs, TQs, ITPs, ITRs, NCRs, and project deliverables.\nCoordinate document transmittals, reviews, approvals, numbering, and revisions with document control personnel.\nTrack outstanding documentation and ensure current revisions are available to relevant teams.\nCompile and maintain construction completion records and handover documentation.\nEnsure project documentation is complete, traceable, and readily accessible. Qualifications as a Project Engineer: Essential Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.\nApproximately 3-5 years of relevant Project Engineering experience, preferably in mining, resources, or construction.\nDemonstrated experience preparing construction work packages, methodologies, ITPs, ITRs, and QA/QC documentation.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work.\nExperience preparing and checking BOQs, MTOs, and drawing-based quantities.\nFamiliarity with applicable Australian Standards and construction quality requirements.\nStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software.\nStrong technical writing, communication, coordination, and organisational skills.\nHigh attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple documentation and project support requirements. Desirable Skills and Experience\nExperience with mining processing plants, fixed plant construction, and Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) installation.\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, or Bluebeam for drawing reviews, coordination, and quantity take-offs.\nExperience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.\nFamiliarity with SharePoint and electronic document management systems.\nKnowledge of relevant Australian Standards, including AS 4100, AS 1554, and AS/NZS 5131, where applicable.
