You’ll use rich, large-scale datasets to solve varied challenges across customer behaviour, demand forecasting, segmentation and personalisation. This is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex business questions into practical data science solutions - and seeing those solutions make a real impact. You’ll work closely with teams across Boots, communicating your findings clearly and helping to build our data science capability as we continue to make progress together. Key responsibilities\nBuild predictive models and analytical solutions for challenges such as demand forecasting, customer segmentation and product recommendations.\nProvide deep analytics across a range of business areas, turning data into clear, useful insight.\nDevelop and deploy machine learning models into production environments.\nApply statistical and data science techniques to answer business questions and identify opportunities.\nWork collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams across Boots to understand problems and shape solutions.\nCommunicate findings, recommendations and model outputs in accessible ways for different audiences.\nStay current with emerging data science techniques, tools and best practice.\nHelp develop the team’s data science capability, including ways of working, methods and standards.\nBalance operational activity with longer-term development work, prioritising effectively in a varied role.\n What you'll need to have (our must-haves)A degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science, physics or economics - or equivalent practical experience.\nA solid understanding of statistical methods and experience applying machine learning techniques in a business context.\nProgramming proficiency with a coding language such as Python.\nExperience using libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or similar.\nStrong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.\nThe ability to translate business questions into analytical problems.\nConfidence presenting complex findings in clear, accessible ways to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nStrong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to balance operational activity and development work.\nIt would be great if you also haveExperience in retail, e-commerce, pharmacy, healthcare or another consumer-facing industry.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.\nExperience with Databricks.\nAn understanding of MLOps practices and model deployment.\nKnowledge of data visualisation tools such as PowerBI.\nWhere your brilliance can take youIn this role, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your experience across multiple high-impact data science use cases, from forecasting and customer insight through to personalisation and production machine learning.
