As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll focus on backend services and production data pipelines for cyber platforms. You’ll improve systems already in use and develop new cyber capabilities.\nYou’ll own services and data pipelines from design through deployment and production support. Working directly with operators, analysts, and other engineers, you’ll clarify requirements and decide how data is ingested, modeled, transformed, stored, and made available to applications. For example, you might build a pipeline that brings together network, endpoint, and other operational data whose formats and schemas change over time, then design the validation, transformation, and recovery mechanisms that keep that data usable when individual sources fail or change.\nWhat You'll Work On:\nDefine a testing strategy around important product behavior and the impact of failures, choosing where unit, integration, and end-to-end tests provide the most useful evidence.\nDesign and build a maintainable testing framework and reusable Python tooling using established testing libraries.\nIntegrate automated checks into CI/CD workflows and keep feedback fast and reliable enough for daily development.\nCreate representative test data, reproducible test environments, and diagnostics that help engineers reproduce failures and distinguish product defects from test, data, or environment problems.\nReport what was validated, what failed, and where meaningful gaps remain so engineers have a clear view of product quality.\nEstablish testing patterns that other engineers can use and extend through code reviews, worked examples, and documentation of key technical decisions.\nJoin us. The world can’t wait.\nYou Have:\n4+ years of experience with professional software engineering including building, shipping, and supporting production software\n3+ years of experience developing backend software in Python, including services, APIs, or data-processing components\n2+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines, including ETL/ELT workflows, data validation, and failure recovery\n2+ years of experience building, deploying, or operating software on a cloud platform such as AWS\n2+ years of experience owning technical delivery for a service, data pipeline, or product feature, including clarifying requirements, making design decisions, and supporting production systems\nExperience with SQL and relational databases, including data modeling, schema design, transformations, and query optimization\nExperience using Docker or container tools, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows to deliver production software\nAbility to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph\nBachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems\nNice If You Have:\nExperience building software for cyber operations or working with operational data such as logs, network telemetry, endpoint data, or security events\nExperience working with workflow orchestration, event streaming, or distributed data-processing systems\nExperience building frontend applications with modern frontend technologies such as React or TypeScript\nExperience building data services or integrations for AI-enabled or LLM-based applications deployed to users\nExperience supporting defense, intelligence, national security, or research and development customers\nClearance:\nApplicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.\nCompensation\nAt Booz Allen, we celebrate your contributions, provide you with opportunities and choices, and support your total well-being. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
