Embedded Firmware Engineer

As an experienced embedded systems and software engineer, you will help solve complex challenges that drive the development of next generation satellite systems. You will take on a hands-on role in designing, implementing, and testing embedded software architectures that interface directly with FPGA based processing pipelines and spacecraft subsystems. You’ll enhance these systems through advanced technology solutions that meet demanding space and mission requirements.

You’ll apply your expertise while providing guidance to a cross-domain hardware-software team focused on digital design, verification, and system integration. In this role, you will collaborate closely with FPGA engineers, RF engineers, and systems engineers to ensure seamless interaction between embedded software components and onboard electronics. Through this work, you will help translate system level requirements into robust, real-time software implementations that enable reliable on-orbit performance.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experiencedeveloping embedded software in C or C++

• Experiencewith embedded Linux, RTOS development, or bare metal firmware

• Experiencedesigning software for real-time systems or high reliability applications

• Experienceintegrating software with custom digital hardware such as FPGA based systems

• Experiencewith software-hardware debugging using tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or protocol analyzers

• Experiencewith configuration management, automated testing, CI/CD, and automated build systems

• Experiencewith software architecture design, communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, or LVDS, and hardware abstraction layers

• Experienceusing scientific or analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python for algorithm development or data evaluation

• Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degreein Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science

• Experienceworking with cross-functional teams and remoteteam members

• Experiencewith space qualified embedded systems or satellite subsystem design

• Experiencewith Yocto, BitBake, U Boot, or device tree development

• Experiencewith embedded cybersecurity, secure boot, or trusted execution environments

• Experiencewith DSP algorithms and real-time signal processing software

• Experiencewith software simulation, hardware in the loop testing, or digital twin environments

• Experiencewith MBSE and MBSE tools such as MagicDraw

• Knowledge ofradiation tolerant computing techniques or system hardening approaches

• Knowledge ofRF systems, telemetry or command subsystems, or spacecraft communication protocols
