The position will provide commodity industry insight and advise and lead the strategic direction to drive competitive advantage for BorgWarner.\nKey responsibilities\nCommercial leadership for plant capital requirements and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI).\n Lead supplier negotiations, sourcing and managing supplier performance for assigned products and services with little to no management assistance.\nWorking with Indirect Global Commodity Managers, develop and execute commodity strategies at local level. \nInvestigate and develop global sourcing opportunities whenever possible to consolidate and leverage across BorgWarner locations.\nGrounded in a sound understanding of supply markets and deliver significant and sustainable reductions to the bottom line.\nLead business teams to leverage knowledge to develop global strategies across multiple facilities.\nDevelop and implement long and short-range plans and objectives to ensure cost-effective and efficient management of plant requirements.\nImplement continuous improvement programs with suppliers that result in cost reductions.\nDevelop long-term partnerships with world-class suppliers.\nIntroduce the organization to new technical developments in materials and components, which will help the organization achieve its objectives.\nWork with other BW plants to benchmark suppliers and purchasing best practices.\nPerform job functions in accordance with applicable quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.\nMonitor industry trends and dynamics and communicate to business on periodic basis.\nResponsible for all commercial discussions with the supplier.\nAccurately maintain supplier Purchase Orders and Schedule Agreements.\nMaintain monthly/ quarterly commodity adjustments for the supply base and accurately reflect same in plant forecast.\nAccurately maintain monthly cost reduction forecasts.\nNegotiate Capital, MRO, and service agreements and or contracts.\nManage and upload MRO contacts.\nRepresents the Arden plant on the Indirect Council team, with a focus to leverage indirect economies of scale.\nLeads development and performance of MRO and Indirect KPI’s.\nSelects suppliers for existing products through effective use of proven procurement skills in an automotive environment (TS16949, AIAG). \nReduces year over year (YOY) costs through aggressive negotiations, resourcing, market test, Value Analysis, Long Term Agreements (LTA), Business Incentives (BI), Annual Improvement Factor (AIF) as well as supply base.\nRecommends supplier process utilization by interpreting blueprints and evaluating customer needs. \nExplore and aggressively pursue cost reduction opportunities using cost model tools.\nExplores available and new technologies and implements best practices in procurement.\nDevelops new suppliers that meet BW cost, quality and delivery requirements. \nPrepares and lead RFQ’s for multi-year full production quantities. \nEvaluates part designs with engineering, quality and suppliers to obtain optimum efficiencies.\nParticipates in purchasing related internal meetings, including making presentations to senior management. Support monthly cost reduction reports. \nMaintains complex spreadsheets containing supply base data, including piece prices breakdown, part weight, volumes, suppliers name, LRP info, etc. \nUnderstands and adheres to current quality and control policies. \nUnderstands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies. \nCommunicates and enforces safe work procedures. \nIdentifies and closes safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions. \nTransport material as required using proper handling methods.\nKeep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings.
