Start your future with BorgWarner now!\nJob purpose\nReporting directly to the Quality and Operational Excellence Senior Manager, the Operational Excellence (OpEx) Intern plays a key role in supporting and advancing continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This position provides hands-on experience in applying Lean principles, data-driven problem solving, and process optimization techniques to enhance product quality and operational performance. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, implement solutions, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.\nKey responsibilities\nAssist in the development, deployment, and sustainment of standardized processes to improve product quality and operational efficiency. Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process maps. \nAssist in identifying and analyzing process inefficiencies using Lean methodologies¸ developing standard work, key milestones and deliverables. \nSupport data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing improvement projects. \nDevelop visualizations for our production floor that help our operations team track and prioritize components \nParticipate in Kaizen events and cross-functional workshops. \nAssist visual management tools and dashboards to track performance metrics. \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize improvement opportunities based on data-driven analysis and business impact \nWhat we’re looking for\nIndividuals that are highly self-motivated, data and fact driven, enthusiastic, and results oriented \nCurrently pursuing a master’s degree in industrial, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineer or Computer Science, or a related field. \nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills. \nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI). \nFamiliarity with Python, C++ or Java, & SQL, familiarity with Ignition a plus \nCapable of taking feedback from various sources and developing a ground-up solution that solves production issues \nFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. \nStrong project management skills-planning, organizing, execution to planned objectives-both short and long-term. \nWhat we believe\nInclusion -We value diversity in people, ideas, and experiences. \nIntegrity - We believe in transparency, authenticity, and depend on each other to deliver what we promise. \nExcellence - We contribute to our developments by seeking knowledge and sharing information. \nResponsibility- We care about our local communities and the global environment. \nCollaboration - We are one BorgWarner. \nSafety\nThis position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner PTC Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.
