Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, this position serves as the technical lead for certification activities, partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, and third-party certification organizations.\nThis role supports products from concept through commercialization by developing certification strategies, managing compliance requirements, coordinating testing activities, and helping ensure safe, reliable product launches\nKey Responsibilities\nLead product certification activities for battery and energy storage products, including development of certification plans and roadmaps.\nServe as the primary technical liaison with UL and other regulatory and certification organizations.\nInterpret applicable standards and regulatory requirements and translate them into engineering and compliance requirements.\nPartner with engineering teams to integrate compliance and functional safety requirements throughout product development.\nDevelop and maintain certification documentation, compliance matrices, and traceability records.\nCoordinate certification testing activities, witness testing, audits, and resolution of certification findings.\nSupport safety analyses, risk assessments, and functional safety activities for electrical, electronic, and software systems.\nProvide technical guidance to cross-functional teams regarding product compliance, safety, and certification requirements.\nSupport customer, regulatory, and internal audits by providing accurate compliance documentation.\nDrive continuous improvement of certification processes and certification readiness across programs.\nWhat we are looking for\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.\nExperience supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or renewable energy products.\n5+ years of experience in product certification, compliance engineering, systems engineering, or functional safety.\nExperience working with UL, TÜV, or other recognized certification organizations.\nStrong understanding of electrical systems, embedded controls, and product development processes.\nExperience developing technical documentation and compliance evidence packages.\nStrong communication and project management skills with the ability to work across cross-functional\nPreferred Qualifications\nKnowledge of industry standards such as UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1998, IEC 61508, or similar safety standards.\nExperience with functional safety assessments, audits, and requirements management.\nFamiliarity with battery management systems, high-voltage electrical architectures, and energy storage technologies.\n-\nSalary Range:\nInternal Use Only: SalaryGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy Statement\nCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
