This role focuses on laboratory and field verification of BMS functionality, safety, reliability, and compliance with system requirements and industry standards. The engineer will develop and execute test plans, analyze system performance, support certification activities, and provide commissioning support through system integration, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution to ensure successful deployment and operation of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and execute BMS validation and verification testing at cell, module, pack, and system levels.\n\nPerform functional, performance, fault-injection, environmental, and stress testing of BMS features.\n\nAnalyze test and field data to evaluate SOC, SOH, SOP, cell balancing, fault detection, protection functions, and overall system performance.\n\nDevelop, review, and maintain test plans, test procedures, validation reports, and requirements traceability.\n\nSupport testing activities at internal laboratories and external certification laboratories (UL, IEC, CSA).\n\nCollaborate with hardware, software, systems, manufacturing, and supplier teams to debug issues and drive corrective actions.\n\nDevelop Automated testing solution with emulators which support end of line testing.\n\nPerform root-cause analysis of BMS, battery, communication, and system integration issues.\n\nSupport site commissioning, startup, and system integration activities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).\n\nTroubleshoot BMS, communication, and system-level issues encountered during commissioning and field deployment.\n\nSupport Site Acceptance Testing , performance verification, issue resolution, and customer support activities during commissioning.\n\nDrive continuous improvement of testing, commissioning, validation processes, tools, and documentation.\n\n Required Qualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Controls, Computer Engineering, or a related field.\n\n5-10+ years of experience in BMS testing, validation, commissioning, or battery systems engineering.\n\nStrong understanding of battery systems, BMS architecture, battery safety functions, and system integration.\n\nHands-on experience with laboratory testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and debugging of battery systems.\n\nExperience supporting BESS commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting activities.\n\nFamiliarity with requirements and test management tools such as Jama, DOORS, Jira, or TestRail.\n\nExperience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or similar data analysis and engineering tools.\n\nKnowledge of communication protocols including CAN, SPI, Modbus, and Ethernet.\n\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.\n\nAbility to travel to customer and project sites to support commissioning and field investigations.\n\nExperience with battery system certification standards and testing agencies (UL, IEC, CSA) is preferred.\n\nWork location: customer office in Bangalore, near Purple Line\nWork from Office: as per customer policies\nWorking hours: overlap with global teams
