The role is responsible for developing and executing trade programs, maximizing free trade agreement utilization, strengthening customs compliance, driving duty optimization, advancing trade technology platforms, and enabling cross-border operational excellence.\nServing as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and key business functions-including Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Finance, and Legal-the Director balances regulatory requirements with business objectives, operational needs, and growth initiatives. The position leads a team of foreign trade professionals and oversees relationships with customs authorities, brokers, trade consultants, and other external service providers to ensure effective, compliant, and cost-efficient global trade operations.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop and execute the organization's foreign trade and customs strategy.\nAlign trade compliance programs with corporate growth, sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics objectives.\nAdvise executive leadership on trade risks, tariffs, geopolitical developments, and international regulatory changes.\nLead trade-related initiatives supporting localization, nearshoring, global sourcing, and supply chain transformation.\nEnsure compliance with all import, export, customs, sanctions, and trade regulations.\nEstablish and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls governing international trade activities.\nOversee import/export classification, valuation, country of origin determinations, and customs documentation.\nDirect internal and external compliance audits and implement corrective actions when required. \nCustoms & Duty Optimization\nLead programs to minimize trade costs while maintaining full regulatory compliance.\nMaximize utilization of:Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)\nForeign Trade Zones (FTZs)\nBonded Warehouses\nDrawback Programs\nDuty Suspension Programs\nIMMEX/Maquiladora Programs\nOther trade incentive programs\n\nIdentify opportunities for duty savings and tariff mitigation strategies.\nOperational Oversight\nOversee import and export operations across multiple business units and legal entities.\nEnsure efficient management of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and trade service providers.\nDrive process standardization and operational excellence in cross-border transactions.\nMonitor KPIs related to compliance, customs clearance performance, duty savings, and operational efficiency.\nRisk Management\nAssess emerging trade risks resulting from regulatory changes, tariff actions, sanctions, and supply chain disruptions.\nDevelop mitigation plans to address customs exposure and compliance vulnerabilities.\nSupport investigations, disclosures, and interactions with customs authorities when necessary.\nEnsure effective business continuity planning for global trade activities.\nTechnology & Digital Transformation\nLead implementation and optimization of trade management systems and customs technologies.\nPromote automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to improve trade compliance effectiveness.\nEnsure integrity of trade master data supporting classification, origin, and compliance processes. \nStakeholder & Team Leadership\nBuild and lead a high-performing team of foreign trade professionals.\nDevelop talent, succession plans, and training programs within the trade function.\nPartner with procurement, logistics, manufacturing, finance, legal, tax, and government affairs teams.\nRepresent the organization in dealings with customs authorities, trade associations, and external stakeholders.\n Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field.\n10+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, customs, import/export operations, or international logistics.\n5+ years of leadership experience managing trade compliance or customs organizations.\nDeep knowledge of:Customs regulations\nInternational trade agreements\nImport/export controls\nTariff classification\nCountry-of-origin determination\nDuty optimization programs\n\nExperience working with customs authorities and external trade partners.\nPreferred\nMaster's degree (MBA, International Trade, Supply Chain, or related discipline).\nLicensed Customs Broker or equivalent trade certification.\nExperience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or global supply chain environments.\nExpertise with trade automation platforms (SAP GTS, GTXXI, and similar systems). \n International Bosch associates can apply.\nAdditional Information\nEqual Opportunity Employer, including disability / veterans\n*Bosch adheres to Federal, State, and Local laws regarding drug-testing.
