The Senior Consultant - Software Engineering is critical to the growth of our core business and products by working directly with customers and internal teams to develop software solutions that help our Fortune 500 & high value customers do more with our existing robotics products and achieve their automation and data needs using our products. To do this, you will build in-depth knowledge of our robotics & software solutions and demonstrate the ability to think strategically and develop software solutions that achieve our customers’ needs, while also contributing knowledge and code back to our core platforms and architectures.\nThe Senior Consultant works directly with external clients and project leadership on paid engagements to execute the development and delivery of software integrations and tools, and should have experience in projects related to customization of our core platforms, application development, sensor fusion, or other custom software development. They will learn from and synthesize insights from our customers, Consulting leaders, product leaders and external experts to successfully deliver applications and code that unlock robotics systems in the customer environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport Project Directors & Software Leaders to develop and deliver custom software solutions based on our core robot and fleet management products to accelerate the adoption of robotics & intelligent systems in dynamic environments.\n\nAct as an external-facing technical representative, leveraging deep product knowledge to synthesize customer insights into actionable technical solutions and custom applications\n\nOwn the design and implementation of software frameworks that scale across autonomous systems, embedded platforms, and cloud-based services.\n\nDrive resolution of complex, high-risk technical challenges in projects that span perception, planning, controls, safety, and hardware/software integration\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights in support of strategic initiatives.\n\nPrepare executive-level presentations and technical documentation that summarize key findings and deliverables.\n\nAssist in facilitating technical requirements and sprint planning sessions.\n\nMove fast, but intentionally, to bring new technology tools that help guide our investments in core robotics / software capabilities, tools, and infrastructure\n\nStay informed on industry developments and share insights with relevant stakeholders.\n\nCore Competencies\nExecution\nOwns delivery of impactful software solutions & technical planning. Builds consensus across diverse perspectives and functions to move client projects forward on key technical decisions, while creating a feedback loop to our core products.\n\nInnovation\nSynthesizes trends, theory, and practice to deliver novel software solutions or capabilities that help clients achieve positive impact from deploying robots in complex, real world scenarios.\n\nAdaptability\nAdapts and pivots in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations, and to move forward productively and optimistically under conditions of change and ambiguity.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nExpertise in Software development, software tools, and new platforms and tools for physical AI.\n\nKnowledge or experience in robotics (especially our core platforms), autonomy, embedded systems, perception systems, or related fields.\n\nStrong grasp of hardware/software trade-offs and cross-disciplinary systems thinking.\n\nAbility to distill complex information into clear, actionable requirements.\n\nOrganized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving capabilities.\n\nTypical Qualifications\nBachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n5+ years of experience in robotics or physical systems software engineering or embedded systems development.\n\nExperience working in cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment preferred.\n\nWe are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.\nThe base pay range for this position is between $134,399.00 to $167,998.00 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure.
