In this role, you will play an important role in building, maintaining, and expanding a successful product that is already solving problems outside of the lab for customers around the world.\nWe are seeking a Perception Engineer to join our Stretch PerML (Perception and Machine Learning) team to work on a robot that is already deployed with customers around the word. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and improve the perception systems on the production robot fleet. You will work with experienced engineers, learn from real field data.\nOur team works on:\nPerception systems: object detection, localization, state estimation, and calibration\nSupporting infrastructure: sensor drivers, debugging and visualization tools, logging, and off-robot data processing pipelines\nQuality and reliability: regular robot testing, performance analysis, and continuous improvement of what we deliver to customers\nWhat You’ll Do:\nApply robotics and computer vision techniques to solve real problems on Stretch.\nHarden existing perception approaches to make them more robust in varied warehouse conditions.\nEvaluate performance through robot testing and data analysis, and turn findings into improvements.\nWrite efficient, testable, maintainable C++ (and Python for tooling and analysis) code.\nCollaborate with teammates on PerML and with adjacent teams such as controls, manipulation, and Platform.\nWe're Looking For:\nBS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics or a related field.\n1-3+ years of industry experience, or substantial internship, co-op, research, or project experience.\nStrong software development skills, including C++ and Python, with knowledge of best practices.\nAbility to explain technical results and trade-offs clearly to teammates, in writing and in person.\nCuriosity and a hands-on approach to debugging problems on real hardware and data.\nWe are interested in all qualified candidates eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.\nThe base pay range for this position is between $115,000 to $135,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
