Provides software support and implement servers, including infrastructure to support them. Has key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure and related all related servers. Assists in making decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and server infrastructure planning. Implements the necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends as they develop. Ensures a stable performance environment for systems. Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the servers as well as the software and OS.\nPosition: Systems Engineer 2\nDepartment: ITS Network/Tech Support\nSchedule: Full Time\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:\nExperience in mission-critical enterprise server environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), and designing, planning, and implementing servers and infrastructure using the latest technology.\n\nThorough understanding of distributed systems architecture and comprehensive knowledge of multipletechnical disciplines.\n\nExcellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, network file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.\n\nAbility to solve enterprise server issues and to manage the performance and capacity of a LAN/WAN environment.\n\nAbility to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.\n\nUnderstanding of the enterprise business and business processes; knowledge of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies/relationships.\n\nAbility to anticipate user requirements and identify and resolve complex problems with minimal supervision.\n\nAbility to assess internal and external communication practices, anticipate future network requirements, and research and analyze emerging technologies.\n\nBuild and configure Windows-based servers.\n\nSupport digital transformation efforts.\n\nConfigurebackup and monitoring on all servers as needed.\n\nUnderstanding the Microsoft security patch cycle and apply patches to servers as needed.\n\nSupport Microsoft Office 365.\n\nMust be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision, isa team player and open to ideas and learning.\n\nBe able to modify storage, memory and network settings as appropriate.\n\nServer performance monitoring.\n\nWork with users to troubleshoot issues with performance, access and other administrative tasks.\n\nAble to communicate effectively across the organization.\n\nTake part in Change Control process.\n\nTake part in regular on-call rotation.\n\nCreate and Post Documentation.\n\n3rd Level end-user support.\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\nEDUCATION:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience).\n\nEXPERIENCE:\nAt least four years of related experience in mission-critical enterprise server environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), and designing, planning, and implementing servers and infrastructure using the latest technology.\n\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:\nThorough understanding of distributed systems architecture and comprehensive knowledge of multiple technical disciplines.\n\nExcellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, PC workstations (configuration and connectivity), network file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.\n\nAbility to solve enterprise server issues and to manage the performance and capacity.\n\nDemonstrated experience in effectively managing small to large projects in a cross-functional environment.\n\nAbility to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.\n\nUnderstanding of the enterprise business and business processes; knowledge of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies/relationships.\n\nAbility to anticipate user requirements and identify and resolve complex problems with minimal supervision; strong customer service and communications skills.\n\nGood judgment and analytical skills; strong follow-up and organizational skills.\n\nAbility to conduct and prepare feasibility studies; develop client proposals, including estimates for costs, time, and resources; prepare statistical reports; complete cost/benefit analyses; and conduct business.\n\nAbility to assess internal and external communication practices, anticipate future network requirements, and research and analyze emerging technologies.\n\nDemonstrated knowledge of the following technical knowledge/skills are mandatory, including from among the following:\n\nHardware: Dell, and HP OS: Microsoft Windows 2k3 thru current, VMware Esxi Desktop:, Windows Desktop OS, Microsoft Office\n\nUnderstanding of operating system concepts such as user and group ownership and file permissions, file system/volume group configuration, etc.\n\nKnowledge of PowerShell.\n\nAbility to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance procedures.\n\nAble to exercise independent judgment and take action.\n\nHighly self-motivated and directed.\n\nExcellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.\n\nExcellent listening, interpersonal, writtenand oral communication skills.\n\nLogical and efficient, with keen attention to details.\n\nAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.\n\nStrong customer service orientation.\n\nExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.\n\nStrong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 and above.\n\nKnowledge of VMWare Virtualization including VDI.\n\nKnowledge of RightFax (desired).\n\nGrey area troubleshooting skills.\n\nCompensation Range:\n$89,500.00- $130,000.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
