The role converts high-value business opportunities into an executable product roadmap and delivers measurable outcomes in quality, service, cost, productivity and capacity.\nThis role owns delivery from problem definition through solution design, development, validation, deployment, adoption and benefit realisation. Working with extended business functions, Quality, IT, cybersecurity, compliance and finance, the Senior Data Scientist establishes reusable engineering practices, develops team capability and ensures solutions are secure, traceable, supportable and scalable across sites.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead, coach and coordinate a development team delivering digital products, analytics and decision-support solutions against an agreed portfolio roadmap.\nTranslate business problems into prioritised use cases, clear product requirements, technical designs and delivery plans with defined owners, milestones and value measures.\nOwn end-to-end delivery from discovery and proof of concept through industrialisation, deployment, adoption, support and continuous improvement.\nGuide the design and development of data pipelines, governed datasets, semantic models, analytics, AI-enabled workflows and user-facing digital applications.\nEstablish engineering standards for architecture, code quality, testing, documentation, validation, monitoring, data lineage, access control and production support.\nPartner with process owners, site teams and subject-matter experts to co-design solutions that address common needs and can be reused and scaled across the network.\nManage delivery risks, dependencies, resources and technical decisions; remove barriers and provide clear progress, options and recommendations to stakeholders.\nDefine baselines and success measures with Finance and business owners, track adoption and realised benefits, and ensure the team remains focused on solutions that create measurable value.\nBuild team capability through mentoring, technical review, knowledge sharing and structured development of data, software, product and business-domain skills.\nEducation & Experience:\nEducation & Certifications\nHonours bachelor’s degree (level 8) or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.\nStrong practical knowledge of SQL, Python or R, data platforms, integrations, analytics, reporting and digital application delivery.\nFormal training or certification in agile delivery, product management, cloud platforms, data engineering or people leadership is advantageous.\nExperience\nTypically 7+ years of relevant experience in data science, data engineering, analytics, software development or digital manufacturing, including experience leading technical delivery or mentoring developers.\nDemonstrated success leading a team or workstream to deliver production-grade digital solutions from concept through deployment, adoption and support.\nExperience defining product roadmaps, prioritising backlogs, planning resources and managing delivery across multiple stakeholders and dependencies.\nExperience integrating enterprise and operational data from systems such as SAP, MES, equipment, historians, APIs, data lakes or cloud platforms.\nPractical experience with data quality, metadata, lineage, security, validation, monitoring and documented support processes in a regulated environment.\nProven ability to quantify expected benefits, communicate technical trade-offs and drive delivery toward measurable business outcomes.\nCore Competencies\nTechnical team leadership, coaching and capability development\nDigital product strategy, roadmap ownership and agile delivery\nSolution architecture, data engineering, SQL, Python/R and API integration\nData modelling, analytics, AI/ML, reporting and workflow automation\nProduction engineering practices, testing, validation, monitoring and support\nStakeholder influence, cross-functional collaboration and executive communication\nValue assessment, adoption measurement and benefit realisation\nGoverned, reusable and scalable solution delivery across sites\nKey Standards & Practices (as applicable)\nData governance and master data management practices\nData quality management (profiling, rules, monitoring)\nMetadata and lineage management\nPrivacy-by-design and least-privilege access controls\nISO 13485 (medical device QMS)\n21 CFR Part 820 / FDA QSR (and applicable local regulations)\nISO 14971 (risk management)\nA good working knowledge of Boston Scientific systems a distinct advantage.\nThe successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, while possessing strong team player characteristics.\nAs a leader in medical science for more than 40 years, we are committed to solving the challenges that matter most - united by a deep caring for human life.
