Must reside within commutable distance of New York courts for in person appearances.\nOverview\nWe are seeking a Litigation Associate for our established and growing Insurance Defense Practice in New York. You will work closely with experienced partners while maintaining autonomy appropriate to your experience level. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your litigation skills in a collaborative, supportive environment. We represent major insurance carriers and their insureds in a broad range of liability and personal injury matters. Responsibilities and case complexity will align with your experience level.\nResponsibilities\nManage worker's compensation defense files from inception through resolution\nAttend virtual and in person hearings, depositions, mediations, and conferences\nDraft and respond to discovery, motions, and other legal pleadings\nConduct and defend depositions of parties and witnesses\nPrepare clients and insureds for depositions and court proceedings\nAppear in court for conferences, hearings, oral arguments, and other proceedings\nParticipate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations\nAssist with or lead trial preparation, including second chair or first chair opportunities depending on experience\nCommunicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel\nEnsure timely reporting and compliance with firm procedures and client guidelines\nMinimum Qualifications\nJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school\nActive admission to the New York State Bar\n3 to 7 years of worker's compensation defense experience preferred\nLitigation experience in personal injury, general liability, and/or insurance defense matters\nPrior experience representing insurance carriers or working within an insurance defense firm\nPreferred Skills\nStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skills\nAbility to manage a caseload with increasing independence based on experience level\nExperience with court appearances, depositions, and motion practice\nFamiliarity with billing practices and adherence to client guidelines\nTrial exposure (second chair or first chair experience welcomed)\nProfessional judgment, strong work ethic, and attention to detail\nCommitment to delivering high quality legal representation\nBenefits and
